De Roo Oly Molen
The space on Singel is beautifully located on the historic canal belt, close to the lively Multatuliplein. We recently became acquainted with the space, which is currently used as a shop/office space, but is also perfectly suited as living space. The high ceilings and characteristic beams offer plenty of opportunities to optimize the layout of the space. We had an alternative floor plan drawn up, including a light-filled patio, an extra floor, and three spacious bedrooms. To give a good impression of the possibilities, realistic artist impressions were made that closely correspond to the future actual situation. Of course, a new owner is entirely free to apply their own design and layout.

Building
The canal house was built in 1737 in the Louis XIV architectural style. In the 18th century, Amsterdam was dominated by French architecture, particularly the Louis styles named after the French kings. The Louis XIV style, which was used in Amsterdam between 1700 and 1740, is characterized by a heavy and classicist appearance. Unlike in France, where the Louis styles were mainly used in interiors and the facades remained classicist, in Amsterdam the characteristic ornamentation was also visible on the facades. This style is recognizable by its baroque design language, with opulent and heavy symmetrical curls, often incorporating acanthus leaves.
