Apartment of approximately 57 m², located in Amsterdam East. The apartment is currently used as office space, but could also be used as a residence.
The building that houses the office space at Schollenbrugstraat 31 H was built in 1934. The building has a typical Amsterdam School style. Between 1910 and 1940, this brick architecture was popular in the Netherlands, particularly in Amsterdam. Characteristic features of the building include the use of reddish-brown bricks with playful brickwork and subtle decorations, the rounded corner of the building, the concrete balcony edges with wrought-iron balustrades, and the wooden entrance doors with geometric glazing bars.

You can experience the full residential experience on our website or download our magazine. You can also easily schedule your own viewing via our website. *See English translation below *

Tour The apartment is designed as an open space where living, cooking, and relaxing come together. At the rear is the bedroom with generous built-in wardrobes and an Immediately bathroom, fitted with a marble washbasin, black taps, walk-in shower, and space for a washer-dryer combination. At the front, a semi-open transition space creates a subtle connection between indoors and outdoors.

Studio Schollenbrug
On Schollenbrugstraat, there is a former garage that has been used as a showroom and workspace in recent years. The current layout is open and well-organized, with high-quality finishes and a strong architectural character.
The space has been designed with flexibility in mind and is ideal for conversion into a residential apartment. Materials, dimensions, and routing have been carefully considered, enabling a compact but complete residential function.

Design vision

This former garage on Schollenbrugstraat is currently used as an office and showroom. The space was recently designed and furnished by Escasa, with an eye for detail, customization, and materiality. The existing structure is open, uncluttered, and inviting—with clear sightlines and a modest level of finish. The interior combines warm materials such as veined natural stone and oak veneer to create a consistent and functional whole. An arched niche above the kitchen unit forms the architectural centerpiece of the space, while rounded volumes and high-quality finishes contribute to the tranquil atmosphere. The original wooden entrance doors, characteristic of the former industrial use, have been retained and give the property character. With the right modifications, the space lends itself perfectly to a transformation into an attractive, high-quality residential apartment, where quality and comfort come together in a contemporary living environment.

Living and cooking

The central space combines living, cooking, and relaxing in one open area. Thanks to the wide facade and glass front on the street side, daylight floods deep into the home, while the high ceilings give the space extra airiness. The layout is clear: the kitchen forms the heart of the apartment and is Immediately to the dining and sitting areas.
The kitchen is designed as a piece of furniture. Oak veneer fronts, rounded corners, and a generous veined marble worktop give the layout an architectural look. The alcove, finished with the same type of stone, emphasizes the verticality and makes the kitchen a quiet eye-catcher. On the other side, the living area connects seamlessly. Here there is space for a comfortable sitting area, with a view of both the kitchen and the entrance. The spaciousness is enhanced by the absence of interior doors, which makes the routing fluid and leaves the open structure intact. The transition between functions – cooking, eating, living – is subtle and self-evident. A space that can be used to its full potential with minimal resources.

Sleeping and bathing

The bedroom is quietly and sheltered at the rear of the apartment. A tall wall of cupboards offers generous storage space without cluttering the room. The room is efficiently laid out and pleasantly proportioned, with natural light coming in through the skylight and a calm, neutral finish. The adjoining bathroom Immediately the bedroom and is compact but complete. A marble washbasin, black taps, and warm wall texture provide a refined finish. The layout is clear and practical, with space for a washer-dryer combination subtly concealed in a recess. Both the bedroom and bathroom have been designed with comfort, privacy, and everyday usability in mind—understated in design, but with distinctive material choices that consistently reflect the style of the interior.

Restaurant Rijsel is named after the French city of Lille, which is called Rijsel by people from Flanders. Like Lille, Restaurant Rijsel has an industrial character. In the building that used to serve as a domestic science school, delicious dishes with French and Flemish influences are now served every day. There is a wide choice of meat, fish, and vegetable dishes. Classics such as poussin rotie, Russian salad, côte de boeuf with béarnaise sauce, fish soup, etc. have been on the menu for years, to the satisfaction of a large group of regular guests. The extensive wine list has a slight focus on France.  The restaurant is located right next to the Weesperzijde, so after dinner you can also enjoy a walk along the Amstel or a beer at Café Hesp.

Susy's Café

Café Susy was founded by Kick van Doorn and Nicole Lieuw, who previously opened the successful Yusu and wanted to show their love for authentic flavors once again with Susy. The name playfully refers to Yusu, but the mission is serious: an all-day café with a menu that doesn't follow trends but remains faithful to traditional Brazilian-Surinamese dishes. The kitchen focuses on familiar flavors such as Surinamese chicken satay, bami with long beans, and escondidinho with chicken, cassava purée, and cheese from the oven. Despite the trendy interior with lots of steel and clean lines, the kitchen remains deliberately unpolished and pure. The atmosphere is lively and accessible, a place where you can just as easily drop in for coffee as for a hearty, home-cooked meal.
