Bottle shop

The Bottleshop was recently opened by Freek Kattenberg. The interior combines sleek design with a warm atmosphere. The wine bar offers more than 350 natural wines. Chef Torres Peralta creates a unique fusion of Japanese and French cuisine with shared dishes. The restaurant also organizes small events; it recently welcomed the chef from Les Oeillets in Paris for an eight-course menu and wine tasting. Kattenberg emphasizes the value of international collaborations and wants to continue this in the future.

New Draver

Oso Nyan! means enjoying meals in Suriname that remind you of your mother's cooking. For over 30 years, New Draver has been an icon in Amsterdam, specializing in exotic and flavorful Surinamese-Creole cuisine. Located in Amsterdam East, you will be welcomed with dishes such as Bami, Nasi, Heri Heri, and Brown Beans with Rice. Try the golden brown chicken with bami and pickles.

Alba

Opened during the pandemic and then Immediately . Now fortunately open, Tuesday through Saturday for dinner. In addition to fish and meat, there is also a good vegetarian selection, including a sunny carrot dish: rainbow carrots, parsley hummus, ginger-carrot sauce, parsley oil, puffed millet, and mustard-carrot dressing. Chef James Usdin previously worked for Michelin-starred restaurants in London, as well as at the Rijks (*). Alba serves a three-course dinner for €38.50, but also has an à la carte menu. Another nice feature is the huge terrace (130 m²) and a great snack menu. The wine list consists of a wide range of natural wines.

Lille

Restaurant Rijsel is named after the French city of Lille, which is called Rijsel by people from Flanders. Like Lille, Restaurant Rijsel has an industrial character. In the building that used to serve as a domestic science school, delicious dishes with French and Flemish influences are now served every day. There is a wide choice of meat, fish, and vegetable dishes. Classics such as poussin rotie, Russian salad, côte de boeuf with béarnaise sauce, fish soup, etc. have been on the menu for years, to the satisfaction of a large group of regular guests. The extensive wine list has a slight focus on France.  The restaurant is located right next to the Weesperzijde, so after dinner you can also enjoy a walk along the Amstel or a beer at Café Hesp.

De Ysbreeker

Lively and welcoming, Ysbreeker is the meeting place for all of Amsterdam. This location invites you to spend the whole day, with its characteristic assets such as the fresh cuisine, the atmospheric terrace on the Amstel and the impressive monumental space steeped in an eventful history since 1702. Named after the historic icebreaker that lay in front of the door, this place has a rich history of inns and taverns. Chef Goran Lukovic and his dedicated team bring an environmentally conscious approach to refined country cuisine, with dishes such as Scottish Balmoral deer and smoked Norwegian salmon marinated in Red Bull. Firma Pekelhaaring

Firma Pekelhaaring is a beloved Italian restaurant located at Van Woustraat 127-129 in Amsterdam. The restaurant is known for its relaxed atmosphere and authentic dishes, influenced by Italian cuisine, but with room for its own variations and local influences. The owner of Firma Pekelhaaring is Matthias van der Nagel.  Under his leadership, the restaurant has gained recognition, including a mention in the MICHELIN Guide with a Bib Gourmand for its good value for money. The menu features dishes such as Arancini, tagliatelle with duck stew, or cod with salted baccala and black salsify.

Leeman döner

For a good doner sandwich, head to Leeman döner on Van Woustraat. The shop has been known for years for its delicious doner sandwiches, partly because they are made fresh every day in the bakery at the back of the shop. In addition to döner, they also offer other products such as Turkish pizza, kapsalon, falafel, borek, and baklava. Leeman has gained a lot of popularity over the years, so it can sometimes be very busy. It is a takeaway shop, so there are no seats inside, but in the summer there are sometimes chairs outside.

Casa Nostra

The cuisine of Puglia in the Pijp area of Amsterdam. Originally from Taranto and raised in a family where everything revolves around food, the owners initially only cooked for friends in Amsterdam. After everyone joked that they should open a restaurant, they finally took the plunge 10 years ago. The menu features authentic dishes such as handmade orecchiette, capocollo from Martina Franca, and a fine selection of Pugliese wines.

El Mauri

El Mauri in De Pijp is one of the best low-budget breakfast spots in the city. For years, this bakery has been serving up a hearty Moroccan breakfast that will make you feel like you're on vacation. Although the bakery looks simple from the outside, inside it offers a delicious breakfast with fresh bread, tagines, and homemade jam.

During the day, it's an excellent coffee bar with homemade pastries and sandwiches. In the evening, it transforms into a wine bar and restaurant. The kitchen describes itself as Nordic with pan-European flavors. The dishes (to share) are special. Sourdough bread with whipped comté butter combined with your choice of chicken liver mousse or anchovies in charcoal oil. A potato mousse with chanterelles and egg yolk. The menu is compact but varied. They have a huge (natural and classic) wine selection. The list, compiled by owner Daniel Schein, is in the Star Wine list. The current chef, Ciaran Naughter, has a passion for cooking over fire.

NAZKA

In the Van Ostadestraat you will find the colorful restaurant Nazka. Besides the fact that the interior looks fantastic, the food is also spectacular. The kitchen shows both Peruvian classics and innovative dishes, which build on the heritage of Peru. Nazka has a beautiful interior, fantastic service, clever food and the sommelier is a genius, but most importantly: everything is delicious.

Rayleigh & Ramsay

Rayleigh & Ramsay is described as a candy store for adults. They consider the term "wine bar" too intimidating, but the focus is definitely on wine, with more than 100 wines available by the glass. What makes it unique is that you can order wine by the sip, half glass, or full glass. This allows you to taste everything you want and discover which wine you like best. In addition to wines, the menu also includes good coffee, cocktails, draft beer, and delicious food.

The Bab

The Korean restaurant The Bab has the authentic taste you would expect from a Korean restaurant, but without being too fancy. Owners Junghun Pyo and his wife Haksun (Sunny) Kim want people to feel at ease and enjoy casual Korean food. The first things that come to mind when you think of Korean food are bibimbap and fried chicken. Bibimbap contains rice, vegetables, and a raw egg. The fried chicken is prepared with a special Korean spice mix. Another popular dish you can order at The Bab is kimchi pancakes. These pancakes are filled with onion and kimchi, a fermented cabbage that is becoming increasingly popular in the West.

Trump card

Raymond Plat (former sous chef at 212), Niels Leijssenaar (restaurant manager at Ron Blaauw), Willem Alberts, and Roderick Kunst (co-owners of Escobar) are joining forces to start restaurant Troef.  The men want to create a homely atmosphere and serve delicious food without too much fuss. The menu is dominated by classic French and Italian dishes. For starters, you can choose from anchovies and sardines, oysters with beurre blanc, or crispy veal cheek with oyster cream. Main course options include lobster with antibois sauce and bisque foam or ribeye.

The Volkshotel

The Volkshotel is a hotel and cultural center located in the old Volkskrant building on the Wibautstraat. The name says it all; The Volkshotel is a hotel for everyone. The Volkshotel is more than just a hotel. In addition to being able to stay, eat and drink here, you can also enjoy the coolest music events in sound bar Doka and you have the most beautiful view from the Roof terrace restaurant Canvas. L'Angoletto

At L’Angoletto it seems as if time has stood still. The restaurant has no website, reservations are not possible and payment by card is not accepted either, but the food is delicious! The chef is known for being proud of his food and he attaches great importance to traditions, so don't dare to ask for cheese with your pasta with fish. This is all worth it because you can eat the best Italian food in the Pijp here.

Sushi Fanatics

When Ho and her boyfriend came to the Netherlands, they were disappointed by the sushi. The sushi at Hotel Okura was tasty, but also very expensive. That's why they opened Sushi Fanatics, a takeaway restaurant. It was very well received. In fact, it was so successful that they now have their own restaurant in Amsterdam-Oost. Their specialties are Hokkaido scallops, squid, and Unagi Deluxe.

Shigure

Amsterdam has a new omakase restaurant called Shigure; 'the unpredictable monsoon of the Netherlands,' as they call it themselves. The restaurant is located at the back of Sushi Fanatics. The counter with eight seats is open two days a week (Friday and Saturday) with one seating at 5:30 p.m. and another at 8:15 p.m. Chef Ryusaku Hiruma provides you with a genuine omakase experience in which he showcases his refined and original sushi skills.

The founder of Yen Dining Bar grew up with Vietnamese flavors and the social dining culture of quán nhậu, which forms the basis of his vision for this business. Here, he brings together classic Vietnamese dishes such as pho, bun bo hue, and banh mi with modern interpretations and shared dining. The kitchen emphasizes fresh ingredients and herbs, with fresh salads and savory noodles that capture the essence of Vietnam. Yen aims to be a place where friends gather for good food and drinks, with a warm, relaxed energy. The ambiance is atmospheric and intimate with a slight industrial touch, perfect for dinners with company or pre-dinner drinks.

Yusu

At Yusu they sell and serve different types of coffee. The beans are imported, selected and roasted in collaboration with Back to Black Coffee. The importers encourage farmers in various ways to work more sustainably. In addition to serving good coffee, all the delicacies are prepared in-house. Co-founder Nicole has a huge passion for baking and developed the recipes for the cakes together with Kick. Try the traditional Surinamese pastries or the Brazilian cheese ball.

Massalia Restobar

Massalia ~ named after the Greek name for Marseille, once discovered by the Greeks. A brasserie-level restobar with influences from Greek cuisine, inspired by the roots of owner and chef Angelo Kremmydas. The same chef previously opened the successful Gitane.  A fine selection of aperitifs combined with ouzo, a cocktail, or a choice of No or Low alcohol. For the main course, a cote de boeuf 'The Greek way'. A dry-aged Holsteiner with pickled onion, oregano, and lemon.

East57

Amsterdam East has a new hotspot! East57 is a relaxed place where different people come together, from locals to students to the occasional lost tourist. You can find them all at East 57. It is open from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. They offer good food and delicious drinks. They work closely with suppliers from Amsterdam who have earned their stripes and deliver only the very best quality. Five Ways Coffee Roasters

Five Ways Coffee Roasters started as a modest coffee roastery in Amsterdam at Spot On Coffeeroaster. A few years ago, the owner settled in the Netherlands and has since opened his second successful specialty coffee bar in Amsterdam. In Oost, the coffee bar is more focused on coffee with food. For example, owner Benny has his own chef who is constantly working on improving his recipes and using seasonal products.

Bukowski Bar

Bar Bukowski is located opposite the entrance to OLVG-Oost hospital and Oosterpark. You can come here for breakfast, lunch, or a drink. Bukowski is a trendy city café and cocktail bar with a large terrace. The menu is varied: burgers, salads, sandwiches, and delicious tarte flambée. Henry's Bar is the sister bar of Bar Bukowski. Roopram Roti

Roopram Roti originated in Suriname and was exported to the Netherlands due to high demand for roti on the Dutch market, partly from holidaymakers from Paramaribo. To meet this demand, J. Roopram decided to export frozen roti to the Netherlands. Unfortunately, this was stopped at the last minute due to restrictions on the export of chicken and chicken parts from Suriname. In Location J. Roopram opened his first restaurant at Mathenesserplein 89 in Rotterdam in July 2002. This was followed by a second branch in Amsterdam, called Roopram Roti Eetcafé. Since then, two additional branches have been opened, one in The Hague and one at Van Woustraat 37 in Amsterdam.

101 Gowrie

According to the young Australian chef Alex Haupt, with Japanese and German roots, he cooks 'Gaijin cuisine.' 'A celebration of cultural diversity through Japanese traditions, techniques, and love for the ingredient with a respectful disregard for the rules of regular convention.' Gowrie serves a set menu with surprising dishes. Think gyoza filled with pigeon, Japanese bread (shokupan) with miso and nori, and a congee of North Sea crab. Reservations are necessary.

The Gilded Unicorn

With the opening of De Vergulden Eenhoorn, a farm dating from 1702 that previously housed community centers and childcare facilities, the Ringdijk can now officially be called an idyllic attraction. The courtyard near the hay barn and the Garden surrounding property one large picnic area, with soft grass to lie down on, borders with flowers and herbs, large wooden tables between the trees, and romantic seating areas in the yard. Once inside, you could just as easily be sitting in an old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. For an escape from the city atmosphere, the Vergulden Eenhoorn is the perfect place, with good food and a wide range of drinks.

Yuan's Hot Pot

Hotpot is one of the most popular ways to dine out in China and is now also gaining popularity in our city. Yuan's Hot Pot has now opened its third Location in Amsterdam. At Yuan's Chuan Chuan Xiang, they serve the authentic taste of Chengdu Hot Pot. Fresh ingredients such as vegetables, tofu, meat and fish are placed on the bamboo skewers. The charming restaurant Ja, is located in the former premises of Jan de Wit's Le Restaurant on the corner of Sarphatipark. At Ja, everything from bread to limoncello is prepared traditionally. The restaurant presents a fixed 4-course menu, which can be expanded with oysters and cheese if desired. Susy's Café

Café Susy was founded by Kick van Doorn and Nicole Lieuw, who previously opened the successful Yusu and wanted to show their love for authentic flavors once again with Susy. The name playfully refers to Yusu, but the mission is serious: an all-day café with a menu that doesn't follow trends but remains faithful to traditional Brazilian-Surinamese dishes. The kitchen focuses on familiar flavors such as Surinamese chicken satay, bami with long beans, and escondidinho with chicken, cassava purée, and cheese from the oven. Despite the trendy interior with lots of steel and clean lines, the kitchen remains deliberately unpolished and pure. The atmosphere is lively and accessible, a place where you can just as easily drop in for coffee as for a hearty, home-cooked meal.

BRIO

Located in Amsterdam's lively De Pijp neighborhood, Restaurant BRIO offers a contemporary interpretation of Italian cuisine. Founded by the owners of Little Collins, the restaurant combines classic Italian flavors with modern influences. Saravana Bhavan

If you want to eat really good Indian food and experience the atmosphere of a real Indian restaurant, you should go to Saravana Bhavan, located on the corner of the busy Stadhouderskade and Van Wou Street. It is part of the largest vegetarian Indian chain in the world. They serve countless delicious (mostly vegetarian) curries and other specialties from India. It is often packed with a mixed crowd. Indian families, couples, tourists, locals, Saravana Bhavaan is a place where you can eat well.

Little Collins

In 2011, Stan Kerkhof and his Australian wife Georgina Patterson opened the brunch café Little Collins in De Pijp. Australian brunching includes poached eggs and avocado on toast. It's also perfectly acceptable to drink alcohol with brunch, which is why the bloody mary is on the menu.

Ranchi

Ranchi is a Japanese sandwich shop run by Sebastiaan and Christiaan Roosink. A Japanese-style sandwich is also called a sando. Choices include a chicken sando (with crispy chicken) or the famous tamago sando with egg salad. They also offer a sandwich with tsukune (a type of meatloaf) made from yakitori-style minced chicken. Delicious with sesame, spring onion, ginger, garlic, and tare sauce.

Dough Studio

Dough Studio is the project Bas and Idske, who started baking pizzas in their Rear garden Amsterdam East in 2019 and discovered their love for good dough there. After opening two Pizza Projects in Oud-West and Zuid, they felt the need for a place to further deepen their craft. At Dough Studio, everything revolves around fermentation and time, with dough given the space to develop fully. Here, they expand their craft beyond pizza, with schiacciata sandwiches, seasonal baked goods, and coffee from a local roaster.

La Bottega by Chiara's Food

"From good people to good people" is the motto of Chiara and her family. Chiara selects the most exceptional and authentic producers in Italy for her delicatessen shop. In the middle of the cozy Beukenplein in Amsterdam-Oost you will find this specialty shop for gourmets. At Erik's delicatessen they have a large assortment of delicacies with cheese in the leading role. Dutch and foreign cheeses that all have their own strong taste and character. Restaurants also buy their cheeses here, but the store is also full of private customers. Also delicious ham, sausage and bread!

The Baker's Sons

At De Bakkerszonen, you can enjoy the most delicious breads, cakes, and croissants every day. This bakery has several locations in Amsterdam, including one in Noord and one near Roeterseiland. The Location First Oosterpark Street

In 2020, Sold Lokatie Sold no less than 858,000 kilograms of goods from its three Amsterdam thrift stores on Buikslotermeerplein, Distelweg, and Eerste Oosterparkstraat. Everything is second-hand, making it incredibly sustainable. The Lokatie on Distelweg covers no less than 2,000 square meters, making it one of the largest in Amsterdam.

Nicemakers

Interior designers Joyce and Dax Roll are partners in life and in design, together they are known as 'Nicemakers'. Personal, lively, functional, rich, inspiring, elegant, thorough and decorative; the 'Nice' in 'Nicemakers' is as light and natural as it is impressive and all-encompassing. The interior for the salad bar SLA was the first Project that put them on the map, after which many impressive Projects followed, including an amazing penthouse in Maastricht, which gave them a role in the Netflix program 'Amazing Interiors'.

Mud in May is an interior and gift shop in the heart of the Pijp. Here you will find items from both well-known and lesser-known designers, creating a playful mix. There is something for every budget. Mud in May sells all kinds of products; chairs, vases, lamps, tables and even clothing. They also have a nice blog where they publish articles in which they talk to designers about the latest interior trends.
