An industrial loft in a hidden location

AM105213-1897334-Weesperzijde-72G,-Amsterdam-193107977

This industrial loft was created in a former sheet metal workshop and car repair shop at the rear of a historic canal-side building. The building had been unused for years until interior designer Michiel van Fastenhout converted it into apartments and an industrial loft. This apartment has no neighbors above or below, which is quite unique in Amsterdam and ensures that it is very quiet and offers a lot of privacy.

What the residents will miss

This bright, sunny loft offers a unique combination of openness and coziness, with cleverly designed individual spaces that feel both modern and historic. Although technically an apartment, it functions more like a standalone house with no immediate neighbors and features a beautiful historic facade combined with a contemporary New York-style loft interior. Originally a car paint shop, the space retains an industrial charm with high ceilings and a touch of the past. The large, versatile space offers a variety of comfortable settings, from reading in the library corner overlooking the green outdoors to enjoying the large fireplace in winter, which evokes a chalet feeling. The open kitchen is perfect for entertaining guests, while the wine cellar also serves as a cozy trattoria for candlelit dinners. The Roof terrace an extra special element.

Located in a trendy, lively neighborhood with bars and cafés, it offers both tranquility and convenience, with the Amstel River and the university nearby, contributing to a youthful, multicultural atmosphere. Favorite local spots include Rijsel, Baut, and Ysbreeker, among others. As we prepare to Rooms, we feel a great nostalgia for the many happy memories and wonderful neighbors we have had here. This apartment will always have a special Location our hearts as our 'happy place.'

Café Susy was founded by Kick van Doorn and Nicole Lieuw, who previously opened the successful Yusu and wanted to show their love for authentic flavors once again with Susy. The name playfully refers to Yusu, but the mission is serious: an all-day café with a menu that doesn't follow trends but remains faithful to traditional Brazilian-Surinamese dishes. The kitchen focuses on familiar flavors such as Surinamese chicken satay, bami with long beans, and escondidinho with chicken, cassava purée, and cheese from the oven. Despite the trendy interior with lots of steel and clean lines, the kitchen remains deliberately unpolished and pure. Dough Studio

Dough Studio is the project Bas and Idske, who started baking pizzas in their Rear garden Amsterdam East in 2019 and discovered their love for good dough there. After opening two Pizza Projects in Oud-West and Zuid, they felt the need for a place to further deepen their craft. At Dough Studio, everything revolves around fermentation and time, with dough given the space to develop fully. Here, they expand their craft beyond pizza, with schiacciata sandwiches, seasonal baked goods, and coffee from a local roaster.
