750 years of Amsterdam

Amsterdam's 750th anniversary celebrations kick off on October 27, providing a wonderful opportunity to put the city in the spotlight. Amsterdam 750 will be the theme at PAN Podium for two days, and art objects originating from Amsterdam will enrich many of the presentations. For example, The Hague-based antique dealer, jeweler, and silver specialist A. Aardewerk will pay homage to Amsterdam's glorious past with a stand dedicated to17thand18th-centuryAmsterdam silver. An enlarged map from the same period (the original is For Sale at PAN For Sale Mefferdt & De Jonge) shows where the makers had their studios. Part of the presentation is an important private collection of antique silver tobacco and snuff boxes; among the more than 40 boxes are richly engraved and extremely rare examples. In addition, for lovers of17th and 18th century Amsterdam silver, there is also a monumental wine jug by Johannes Schiotling, the eight-piece Tuinhout tableware set by Frederik Manicus, and a collection of silver miniatures.

Nynke Tynagel

In an explanation of her work, Nynke Tynagel says: "The PAN and I go back years. As a visitor but also as a participant, I was always enticed by the diverse range of artworks from different disciplines: from traditional masterpieces to intriguing art and curiosities from the past and present. This year, I had the honor of designing the campaign image. I knew right away what it would be. In my work, I often imagine a character, someone with a particular profession, a fiery passion, or just a type that I then portray based on his or her living environment and personal possessions. In this case, it became a frenzied collector couple. Their collection of art, antiques, and design, stylistically represented here, is eclectic and driven not so much by strict categories as by emotion. You will encounter them again this year at the PAN, looking for new acquisitions. They live amid their impressive collection and believe they can still make some space in their overflowing private museum: their contemporary Wunderkammer.

40 lectures and panels on tradition, innovation, and current events in art

In collaboration with partners such as Stichting Amsterdam 750, Amsterdam Museum, Codart, VNK, and others, PAN Podium once again offers an inspiring program this year. The themes of the lectures and panels vary each day, ranging from the history of Amsterdam to the surprising role of color, and from developments in technical research to the need to travel for the sake of art. Visitors to PAN Amsterdam are welcome to attend all parts of this program.
Margitte Verwoerdt, Head of Programming, Partnerships, and Events at PAN Amsterdam, together with coordinator Janneke Luns, wants to make the fair accessible to anyone interested in art: "An art fair is more than just a place to buy art. It is also a place to be inspired, to connect, to enjoy and to exchange knowledge. These elements come together extensively in the PAN Podium lecture platform: a place for in-depth exploration at the fair. At PAN Podium, current themes and developments are discussed, expertise can be consulted and connections can be made within various communities in the art, antiques and design world."

Andy Warhol, Jan Cremer, Bob Bonies, and a designer grand piano worth €600,000.

MPV (Mark Peet Visser) Gallery in Oisterwijk presents an exceptional offer: a complete series of Reigning Queens(1985) by Andy Warhol, signed and numbered by the artist. In his portraits of Elizabeth II of England, Margretha II of Denmark, Beatrix of the Netherlands, and Ntombi Twala of Swaziland, Warhol transforms the language of traditional portraiture into that of popular culture. Galerie Helga Hofman presents a solo exhibition of the recently deceased Jan Cremer. Newcomer Alain Hens from Antwerp exhibits Bob Bony's spectacular three-dimensional work from 1966, from an important private collection, in a minimalist setting. 1966 was a crucial year in Bony's career. His breakthrough Location the international exhibition Vormen van Kleur(Forms of Color), organized by Wim Beeren at the end of 1966 at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, featuring artists who advocated a "cool approach." The Roermond gallery Antiques Emporium presents the Art Nouveau vase Titania Genre 6388 by Johann Loetz Witwe, which is exemplary of his craftsmanship and innovative approach. Art gallery Albricht presents the expressive Personnage, oil on canvas, by Karel Appel from 1976. Antiquariaat De Roo displays an early 18th-century Dutch celestial globe in its original condition, made in Amsterdam by Gerard Valk and his son Leonard. Epoque Fine Jewels from Kortrijk surprises with an exciting Cartier brooch. And for music lovers, there is the Maene-Vinoly grand piano. This masterpiece of tradition, innovation, and aesthetics, introduced by piano specialist Piano's Maene, has a price tag of approximately €600,000.

An industrial loft in a hidden location

Spotlight: This industrial loft was created in a former sheet metal workshop and car repair shop at the rear of a historic canal-side building. The building had been unused for years until interior designer Michiel van Fastenhout converted it into apartments and an industrial loft. This apartment has no neighbors above or below, which is quite unique in Amsterdam and ensures that it is very quiet with plenty of privacy. Take a sneak preview of this 'HIDDEN OBJECT'.

Spotlight; Koningsvijver House

Spotlight: Living on Vondelpark in the distinctive and monumental Huize Koningsvijver building, located in one of the most beautiful spots in the city. "I prefer to sit in the living room with a view of Vondelpark. In summer, it's a beautiful green panorama; in winter, a picturesque view of Koningsvijver. Each season provides a new characteristic composition." Read more about what the current residents have to say here.

Sushi time

Sushi has also become extremely popular in Amsterdam. The price and quality vary enormously. These restaurants serve the best sushi in the city. Some specialize in sushi and others serve sushi in a menu. The order is arranged by district.
