Bisou Gallery

Bisou Gallery originated from Rademaker's love for art and interior design. He started in 2016 with an 'Instagram only gallery', but since 2020 there has been a physical location on the KNSM Island in Amsterdam East. Rademaker does not follow the big names for the art he exhibits, but only his own heart and taste. The homely atmosphere makes it a pleasant place to get acquainted with the outspoken works in an accessible way.

Museum Perron Oost

With a Floor area 6 m2, Museum Perron Oost in the Eastern Docklands is perhaps the smallest museum in the world. In 1993, artist and designer Joep van Lieshout transformed the former cattle market platform into a mini park, complete with an empty freight car. It shows the past 150 years of history of this part of the city: there are stories of cattle traders, circus parades, liner services to Indonesia, Suriname, and the United States, Jewish refugees, young delinquents, squatters, and urban nomads. Since 2013, Museum Perron Oost has been telling the stories of old and new local residents in the form of theater, film, dance, music, visual arts, or combinations thereof. The museum on the platform also hosts exhibitions about different periods in the history of the Eastern Docklands.

Together with her partner and co-founder Steph de Goeijen, she serves a menu that celebrates seasonal produce and Mediterranean flavors, with a clear emphasis on her cultural background and fresh, creative interpretations. The dishes are rich in flavor and vary weekly, combining classic Turkish elements with local Dutch products. In addition to the food, Steph's carefully curated wine list is an important part of the experience, with Mediterranean and Turkish wines that pair well with the cuisine.

VRR

Restaurant VRR, together with Stadsbakkerij As, is located in the historic building dating from 1895, which was used as a staff canteen and laundry room by the Nederlandsche Scheepsbouw-Maatschappij (Dutch Shipbuilding Company). Chef and owner Sander Overeinder, formerly of restaurant AS, among others, has always been a pioneer. Here, too, the biodynamic fruit and vegetables come from his native region of Beemster. Many of the dishes are prepared over an open fire. The delicious bread (from As, of course) is also available For Sale in the adjacent shop. The wine list has been compiled with great care, knowledge, and love. It features biodynamic and, above all, natural wines from France, Italy, and Germany, among other countries.

Counter

Counter is a family business run by Raymond and Nathalie Hunsel-Spigt, their daughter Tatum, and her partner Jaime Sharp, with roots in a catering company that has been operating since 2004. Their vision was to create a lunch and wine bar where plant-based dishes take center stage, changing daily and prepared with care. During the day, Counter serves fresh sandwiches, quiches, and other plant-based lunch dishes, often with creative combinations and homemade flavors. On weekends, the business transforms into a natural wine bar with accompanying small bites and a warm, social vibe.

Foer

At Foer, the seasons determine the menu, so the selection is constantly changing. The food is special and experimental. Chef Steven Broere cooks a mix of modern Dutch food with a Norwegian twist. You can enjoy a five- or seven-course meal here, with a choice of meat or vegetarian. The restaurant is located in a beautiful building, and the conservatory creates a special atmosphere. The bar (chef's table) is also highly recommended, offering a glimpse into the kitchen. Stylishly decorated with a light atmosphere.

Hotel de Goudfazant

The restaurant is located in a huge industrial warehouse on the waterfront in Amsterdam North, which, despite its size, has excellent acoustics and is very well and stylishly decorated. Every evening, it is filled with regular customers who keep coming back for the (pickled) poussin and the dessert 'heavenly mud', among other things. In summer, you can sit on the terrace and enjoy the view of the IJ river. Goudfazant now also bakes its own bread! The 'group' now also includes other businesses such as Café Modern and (in collaboration with Sander Overeinder) restaurant VRR.

FC Hyena

FC Hyena is a charming combination of cinema, bar, and restaurant. You can watch cult films here in the two cozy cinema theaters. The menu is compact and good, and most of the dishes are prepared in a large wood-fired oven. In the summer, you can also go to the outdoor cinema or sit at one of the large picnic tables overlooking the IJ. This is almost as entertaining as a film, as from the terrace you can see the entire Amsterdam skyline, including all the boats and large cargo and cruise ships passing by.

Barracuda

Barracuda is located in Amsterdam North, in a 600-square-meter warehouse with an interior built by the owner himself, where fish and wine play the leading role. You mark what you want to eat on a piece of paper with a pencil, and you order your drinks and pick them up at the bar. In the summer, you can eat outside on a terrace that is just as huge. The fresh fish and shellfish are served with French fries.

Krux brewery

Cruquiuseiland used to be one large shipyard. Now, only one brewery remains. It's a place where beer is brewed and where you can also come and drink. According to some, it's the smallest brewery in Amsterdam. This has two advantages: the small batches make it easy to experiment with recipes, and the beer is always super fresh!

Restaurant Fyr

Executive Chef and owner Elian Muller opened Fyr on Czaar Peterstraat after years of experience at restaurant Vinkeles, where he further refined his craft. His vision for Fyr is inspired by the four elements—water, earth, air, and fire—which together form the basis of the seasonal dishes. Muller works extensively with local products and techniques such as wood-fired cooking, symbolized by the large wood-fired oven in the kitchen. The menus are carefully constructed and reflect his love of robust flavors and elegant presentation. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with a modern interior.

Coba

In Amsterdam-Noord, Coba Taqueria is located in a former garage. This restaurant with Mexican cuisine has a menu consisting of traditional handmade tacos, refined cocktails and a selection of special wines and beers. The interior of this place is also reminiscent of a real Mexican taqueria, with colorful decorations, plants and music in a deliberately unfinished space. If you would like to learn how to make tacos yourself after a visit to Coba, you can do so via the online cooking course that Coba offers.
