Filips van Almondestraat 15
On the inner courtyard of a closed residential block in De Baarsjes in Amsterdam, a telephone exchange, a monument from 1926, is being transformed into a unique residential building with inner gardens. The former KPN building is a monument, a hidden gem, located in the middle of a residential block. For the redevelopment, a transformation into 18 homes with gardens and 1 apartment has been chosen, situated in an oasis of tranquility. Sales are expected to start before the summer of 2024.

Area
In the lively area of De Baarsjes, creatives and family-friendly vibes come together perfectly. This neighborhood is ideal for young professionals and dynamic families, with an abundance of dining options, coffee shops, and relaxing spots. What does your weekend look like when you live here?

History
This municipal monument on the inner courtyard between Filips van Almondestraat, Witte de Withstraat, and Admiralengracht was designed by architect Alfred Boeken at a time when there was a great need for telephone connections and not much space in the city. As part of the expansion of Plan West, this 6th telephone exchange was planned in the middle of a residential block in De Baarsjes. The ground floor housed the storage and technical room, while the first floor accommodated the telephone exchange where ladies manually established the telephone connections.

The sales prices for these homes start from € 950,000 k.k. Want to stay updated on news about this project? Sign up for the newsletter on the project website www.decentrale.amsterdam.
