A characteristic loft apartment of approximately 133 m² with panoramic water views
Situated on the Veemkade, this residence, once partly used as an artist’s studio, offers an exceptional sense of space, highlighted by the striking 5.10-metre-high ceiling at the mezzanine level.
Tour
The apartment has a bold, industrial character, defined by its mezzanine and the use of steel elements. A key advantage is that the ground lease has been bought out in perpetuity.
This property offers an exceptional living experience on the edge of Amsterdam’s historic city centre. Just a five-minute cycle ride from Central Station, the Marineterrein, and Dam Square, yet situated in a peaceful and open setting.
The ground floor is spacious and clearly laid out. At the front lies a bright living room with sweeping views over the IJ. Large windows create a strong connection with the outdoors. At the heart of the apartment, the mezzanine links both levels, reaching an impressive height of 5.10 metres. The steel staircase and open walkway add structure and enhance the industrial aesthetic.
The dining area forms the central gathering point on the ground floor, with space for a large table. The kitchen was recently renovated and is both functional and refined in design, featuring a cooking island, built-in appliances such as an induction cooktop with downdraft extraction, dishwasher, double oven, fridge-freezer, and a Quooker Cube providing boiling, sparkling, and chilled filtered water.
At the rear is a second sitting area, enclosed by a steel-framed glass partition with a soundproof door — a quiet, light-filled space with direct access to the terrace.
The home offers four bedrooms, all located on the first floor. The main bedroom, positioned at the front, enjoys an unobstructed view of the water, a built-in wardrobe wall, and a private shower and washbasin. Provisions are already in place for a freestanding bathtub. The other three bedrooms are practical in size, suitable for use as children’s rooms, home offices, or guest rooms.
There is a compact, well-appointed bathroom with a walk-in shower, washbasin, and toilet. In addition, a separate laundry room provides connections for a washing machine and dryer.
Outdoor Space
At the rear, the apartment features a generous south-facing terrace of approximately 11 m². The outdoor area is sheltered and offers plenty of space for seating. The quay itself is also actively enjoyed year-round — a place where residents can swim and enjoy the water right at their doorstep.

My Side II
A characteristic loft apartment of approximately 133 m² with panoramic views over the water. This residence on the Veemkade was formerly used in part as an atelier, which is reflected in the impressive ceiling height of 5.10 metres in the mezzanine.
The apartment has an industrial character, defined by the mezzanine and the use of steel. An essential feature is that the ground lease has been bought off in perpetuity.
An exceptional living experience on the edge of Amsterdam’s historic city centre — just five minutes by bike from Central Station, the Marineterrein, and Dam Square, yet set in a peaceful, open environment.
In the final years of the twentieth century, the Eastern Docklands rapidly transformed from a disused harbour area filled with warehouses, quays, and cranes into a modern urban residential district. At the edge of this area stand two residential buildings, My Side, designed by the firm de Architekten Cie (1995), together comprising 106 apartments. The buildings’ north façades face the IJ River and the IJ Harbour, while the south façades overlook the historic city. This difference in orientation is reflected in their architecture.
The water-facing façades are monumental, constructed with large-scale elements and robust materials such as corrugated metal, glass, and plaster. The upper and corner apartments project slightly forward, framing the whole. The south façades, facing the Oostelijke Handelskade, are more varied and lively in appearance, featuring terraces, balconies, and staggered wooden façades on the top floor that create a distinctive, serrated profile.
To make the most of the location between the city and the water, the apartments were designed with open layouts. The ground floor features atelier residences with mezzanines, above which are six levels of maisonettes.
The ground floor is spacious and well-organised. At the front is a bright living area with views over the IJ River. Large windows provide a strong connection to the outdoors. At the centre of the home lies the mezzanine, linking both floors with an impressive height of 5.10 metres. The steel staircase and open walkway provide structure and reinforce the industrial aesthetic.
The dining area forms the heart of the ground floor, with space for a large table. The kitchen, recently renovated, is both functional and sleekly designed, featuring an island and built-in appliances including an induction hob with downdraft extractor, dishwasher, double oven (one of which is a steam oven), a full-height fridge and a separate freezer, and a Quooker Cube providing boiling, sparkling, and chilled filtered water.
At the rear, a second sitting area can be enclosed with a steel partition and soundproof glass door, a tranquil space filled with natural light and direct access to the terrace.
The residence includes four bedrooms, all located on the first floor. The main bedroom, at the front, overlooks the water and features a built-in wardrobe, as well as a private shower and washbasin. Preparations have been made for the installation of a freestanding bathtub. The remaining three bedrooms are functional in size and well-suited as children’s rooms, offices, or guest rooms.
The home also includes a compact, well-maintained bathroom with a walk-in shower, washbasin, and toilet. A separate laundry room provides connections for a washing machine and dryer.
At the rear of the home is a generous south-facing terrace of approximately 11 m². The outdoor space is sheltered and offers ample room for seating. The quay itself is also a popular communal area throughout the year, perfect for enjoying the water, even for swimming.
