When we were searching for a house and came across this one in Watergraafsmeer, we were Immediately Sold the peace and quiet, the space, and the location. Six years ago, we thoroughly renovated the entire house so that it would fully meet our family's needs and be ready for the future. It is spacious and practical, yet cozy and warm. There is room for everyone to work quietly, play outside, or retreat for a moment. When we're not in our garden, we're in front of the house, enjoying a drink in the evening sun. In the evening, we love to take a walk along the Ringdijk or through Park Frankendael.
The garden is our favorite place. In the morning, the sun shines directly on the garden table, and we like to drink coffee there while the children run around and play with all the space they have. This year, we renovated the garden, so now there is even more space for everyone. It's also enjoyable inside, because the sunlight shines beautifully into the dining room in the morning.
The neighborhood feels friendly and peaceful, but at the same time, everything is close by. Within ten minutes, you can be at Amstel Station or in the city center. It's ideal for the children: they have lots of friends in the neighborhood and can walk to the playground around the corner. The neighborhood is pleasant and lively, with annual community activities where young and old meet. There are many good schools, and around the corner is Park Frankendael, a green oasis where the famous Pure Market takes place every last Sunday of the month.
We have our regular coffee routine at the Coffee Company, where neighbors meet and always say hello and catch up. For drinks, we often stay close to home at Mojo, still within baby monitor range, and we like to eat out at La Vallade or the Cottage. If we have something to celebrate, we go to De Kas. We exercise nearby at PLTS or TRIB3, or we go running along the Ringdijk, the Amstel, and the Oosterpark.
The fantastic garden, the nice neighbors, and the good amenities are literally around the corner. This house has given us so much peace, space, and comfort, and thanks to the renovation, everything feels comfortable and future-proof. Nevertheless, we have decided to move to Haarlem to live closer to the sea. This brings a wonderful period here to a close, and we look back on this house and this neighborhood with great fondness.
