De Drie Dubbel
Sometimes we come across a home that immediately catches our attention because of its distinctive and unique atmosphere, for example due to the beautiful light. This is certainly true of De Drie Dubbel at Van Eeghenstraat 39. Here, the residents have left their own mark and identity on the home, giving it a character all its own. This home is particularly surprising because of its loft, internal staircase, and the beautiful light that floods in. In addition, the home offers plenty of space for various functions. Living in this home will be a pleasure for anyone, thanks to the south-facing windows and the interaction with the garden and lush greenery. It is clear that the current residents have enjoyed living here for more than twenty years. You can see that they still enjoy and love living in this home to this day.
What is also important to me is that the basement is more like a garden level than a cellar, as is the case with many other houses. This gives this floor a higher quality of living. My challenge is to find the right new residents who will enjoy living in this house just as much.

Van Eeghenstraat is actually part of architect Zocher's urban development plan, as part of the boundary of Vondelpark, which he designed in the late 18th century. Most of the houses in this street were designed in a style typical of that period, which can also be seen elsewhere in the nineteenth-century belt. Beautiful brickwork, elegant balconies and bay windows on the street sides, together with a stone exterior staircase and facade elements, made this street attractive to the wealthy bourgeoisie, who often wanted to escape the busy city center.
This style, combined with the neighborhood layout and proximity to Vondelpark, has ensured that Van Eeghenstraat has long been the most desirable neighborhood to live in. Van Eeghenstraat Number was originally built as a spacious ground floor apartment and a separate upper floor apartment. In 2004, we found this house as an outdated, rented property spread over three floors. It had seen better days, but we immediately saw its potential. Together with DRK architects, and with a view to how we wanted to live as a family, we thoroughly renovated it and completely adapted it to our wishes. We have lived here happily for many years and our three daughters grew up here. The house was always full of life – endless outdoor play, sleepovers, birthdays, and cozy chaos. Friends came and went, and the large, long dining table was the center of countless dinners, conversations, and memories. What will we miss? The balmy, quiet evenings in our sheltered Rear garden, while the Vondelpark around the corner was bustling with activity. The pleasant, practical layout of the house, where everything is logically coordinated. The laundry chute that magically kept the Rooms tidy. The tranquility of a well-designed home, where space, warmth, and light come together perfectly.
Now that our daughters have flown the nest and are living on their own, it's time for a new phase—and for new residents who will love this house as much as we have. We say goodbye with a warm heart to a place full of memories, comfort, and love.
