As an agency, we assist with the sale of a wide range of properties. As a real estate agent, this variety is very challenging and contributes to the picture you get of the overall housing market in Amsterdam. Personally, I have a soft spot for Amsterdam-West, where I used to live myself. The neighborhood has a great vibe and good amenities. Van Hallstraat, Frederik Hendrikstraat, and Van Limburg Stirumstraat, among others, offer a variety of shops, specialty stores, and caterers. There are also several good restaurants and cozy cafés in the area. The apartment is a well-designed three-room apartment of approximately 91 m². The property offers a perfect combination of contemporary living and comfort. With two bedrooms a lovely garden of approximately 75 m², adjacent to the living room, the apartment is very well laid out, making optimal use of the space. Unique to this apartment is the design of the complex, the location, and the fantastic view. If you are interested, I would like to invite you to come and take a look. Of course, I will tell you more about the apartment then. Perhaps we will see you soon.

In 1864, the N.V. Nederlandsche Palmitine-Fabriek (Dutch Palmite Factory) built a number of buildings on this site, outside the city limits at the time, where candles were made from palm oil and talc. Palmite is a fatty acid derived from palm oil. The production of candles caused odors and fire hazards, making a location outside the city desirable. Not only candles were made, but also large blocks of stearin for export, which foreign companies could then use to make candles. In 1875, the buildings were taken over by the newly established N.V. Amsterdamsch Westelijk Entrepôt. They considered this a suitable location for warehouses: the Kostverlorenvaart was the waterway to Rotterdam, and via the then brand-new Westerkanaal, the canal was connected to the IJ and the North Sea Canal. The largest warehouse was named Ambon and was rented by the Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij. Between 1910 and 1920, rows of houses were built on Van Hallstraat and Eerste Keucheniusstraat, incorporating the complex into the expanding city. In 1949, the warehouse was taken over by Blaauwhoedenveem-Vriesseveem. In 1953, the shipping company decided to convert the outdated buildings (once again) into an industrial complex for various tenants. It was named Amsterdams Westelijk Industriecentrum (AWIC). At that time, various other companies were already located in the buildings, such as a printing company, an instrument factory, and a bag trade. From 1954 onwards, mopeds were manufactured there by the Austrian brand HMW. Between 1998 and 2005, the AWIC site was redeveloped into a residential area called Meander, located between Van Hallstraat and Kostverlorenvaart. The complex consists of a meandering closed facade, which matches the scale of the wide Kostverlorenvaart. The winding shape created two loop-shaped interior spaces and a car-free city square. Phase 2 is architecturally a continuation and at the same time the completion of the project . However, the program is more complex and is characterized by a mixture of functions. The facades are made of red and white brick and decorated with steel, concrete, and stone ornaments. On the upper floors, the facades are clad with rebated panels.
