What the residents will miss
For us, this house is truly an oasis of calm in the heart of Amsterdam. The privacy, the light and spacious rooms, and the clever layout give us a sense of freedom. In the middle of the city, close to the lively Jordaan district and cozy cafés around the corner, with Westerpark literally as Rear garden, we have found a place where we can truly relax. Even though everything the city has to offer is within walking distance, we experience a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere here.
The apartment itself offers a lot of space, which is great with children. Everything is on one floor, which makes life a lot easier. We have the luxury of plenty of space without having to go up and down stairs. The children have plenty of room to play and create their own corners, while we can easily work from home, each in our own space. One of our favorite places in the house is the open kitchen. This is the heart of our home, where we come together to cook, organize dinners, and spend long evenings with friends.
When decorating, we deliberately chose a calm and spacious look, with plenty of storage space to make the apartment feel even bigger. This is what makes the house so special: it is a place where we can relax, where the balance between bustling city life and the tranquility of home comes together perfectly.
The greenery at both the front and back of the apartment and the spacious balcony give us the feeling that summer starts early. Thanks to its sheltered location, it is wonderful to be here, often already in the spring.
What makes the Spaarndammerbuurt so special to us is that everything is within easy reach. It's no coincidence that the neighborhood is nicknamed "the Spaarndammer bubble," which is increasingly becoming more connected to the Houthavens. From cozy cafes and restaurants to supermarkets and a gym that opens early. It's also very child-friendly, with playgrounds on every corner, wide sidewalks, and a daycare center with the largest nature playground in Amsterdam. The elementary school is fantastic, and the nearby Westergasterrein offers plenty of green space and a wide range of activities and events.
What we will miss most is the feeling of living in the heart of the city, with Westerpark around the corner, the Noordermarkt in the Jordaan on Saturdays, and the community spirit of the neighborhood. The liveliness and proximity of cozy cafes and restaurants have always made us feel that we are never far from what makes Amsterdam so special.
