Design vision

Prinsengracht 379 C has a rich history, during which the building has adapted to various functions and architectural styles over the years. The original Gothic-style façade with two doors and a gate has undergone several transformations, the last of which was completed in 2004.
From around 1910, the building housed the Adler & Oppenheimer leather factory, a company that specialized in leather processing and trade. In the early 1920s, the factory provided Location the warehouse and office of Herman Gosschalk's spice and canned food business, which operated here until around 1956. It is striking that Gosschalk regularly placed newspaper advertisements looking for 'neat girls' to pack pudding powder, which paints a picture of the labor dynamics of the time.
These historical layers were taken into account in the design and redevelopment of the building. The design vision focuses on striking a balance between respect for the past and a contemporary interpretation of the characteristic appearance. The Gothic influences of the original façade have been subtly incorporated into the aesthetics, while modern materials and techniques ensure Sustainability functionality. Careful use of color and materials has created harmony between the historical appearance and the needs of a contemporary living or working space.
Prinsengracht 379 C is thus an example of how a building with a layered history can be given new meaning without losing sight of its past.
