Design vision
In response to rationalism, a group of architects emerged in the early20th century who wanted to express themselves in a more artistic way. This led to an expressionist architectural style: the Amsterdam School. Everything revolves around the external form, which is sturdy and solid. Characteristic features include ladder windows: windows divided by a large number of muntins.
Piet Gijzenbrugstraat is a wide, quiet street lined with beautiful trees. The neighborhood was built in the 1930s and is characterized by its distinctive architectural style, with many bay windows and a variety of buildings in the beautiful surrounding streets.
The building consists of two members, and the homeowners' association is managed internally.
The apartment has its own entrance from the street side. The bright and cozy living room is at the rear of the house, so the garden is Immediately adjacent Immediately this space. This provides the optimal experience of living on the ground floor, making the garden an extension of the living space.
The modern and elegant kitchen has a fresh look, with a corner layout. The kitchen is equipped with built-in appliances such as an induction hob, dishwasher, oven, and fridge/freezer.
The choice of materials and colors gives this apartment a sense of unity and a calm atmosphere. The entire apartment has herringbone flooring.
The spacious master bedroom is located at the very quiet front of the house and has a luxurious en-suite bathroom. The color scheme and layout add extra luxury to this space. The bathroom has a bathtub, shower, double sink, and second toilet. The bathroom floor has underfloor heating.
The second bedroom is located on the garden side and has a good width of 2.22 m. A good bedroom/study or guest room.

An added bonus is that there are several benches on the street, and when the sun is shining, people sit on the sidewalk in front of their houses.

When we first saw this house ourselves, we knew immediately that this would be the house where our first child would be born. The beautiful en-suite bathroom, cozy bedroom, lovely kitchen, pleasant light extension, and of course the wonderful garden. We would really feel at home here.
And we succeeded! We especially enjoy spending time in the lovely open kitchen and living room. We made these spaces our own with new tiles in the kitchen and a warm yellow color in the living room. It's wonderful to enjoy long dinners with friends in the open kitchen or sit outside in the garden in the evening when the weather is nice.
And then there's the fact that the house is located in the cozy Hoofddorpplein neighborhood, which is really like a village within the city. There are nice restaurants, bars, and great shops in the area. We often go for a walk on Saturdays, have a cup of coffee, and let our daughter play in one of the many playgrounds in the Hoofddorpplein neighborhood. The street is also very pleasant. In the summer, it's wonderful to sit in front of our house in the sun, drink a cup of coffee, and chat with the neighbors. And when we feel like going for a walk, we can be in Rembrandtpark or Vondelpark in no time.
We are going to miss this house and this place terribly, but for us it is time to leave the city and start a new adventure in Bussum. This house will always hold a special place in our hearts and we hope that new residents will enjoy it as much as we have done over the years.
