Design vision

The building is part of Y-city 4.1, a complex within the Zeeburgereiland urban development project where living, working, and urban vitality converge. The design is characterized by robust building blocks in an open setting, with space for sightlines and greenery between the volumes. The architecture is clear and rhythmically structured. Horizontal lines of balconies bring cohesion to the facade, while vertical accents provide variation and recognizability. The use of brick, concrete, and light balustrades gives the building a contemporary look with a warm undertone. The galleries function as open access zones with views of the surroundings. They form a transition between private and communal spaces and contribute to the spatial experience of the whole. Within this context, the residence positions itself as part of a larger, carefully designed urban whole.

Museum Perron Oost

With a Floor area 6 m2, Museum Perron Oost in the Eastern Docklands is perhaps the smallest museum in the world. In 1993, artist and designer Joep van Lieshout transformed the former cattle market platform into a mini park, complete with an empty freight car. It shows the past 150 years of history of this part of the city: there are stories of cattle traders, circus parades, liner services to Indonesia, Suriname, and the United States, Jewish refugees, young delinquents, squatters, and urban nomads. Since 2013, Museum Perron Oost has been telling the stories of old and new local residents in the form of theater, film, dance, music, visual arts, or combinations thereof. The museum on the platform also hosts exhibitions about different periods in the history of the Eastern Docklands.
