What the resident will miss
During the last renovation I had the opportunity to carry out, I removed a false wall in the kitchen. When I took it down, the original ornaments appeared, along with the original paint layer, which was around 380 years old. It's like being an archaeologist in your own home!
But also the silence of the canal at nightfall, the rustling of the wind and the chirping of birds makes it so special to live here."

The building
The apartment is located in a beautiful monumental canal house with a fascinating history. The original building dates from 1640 and was only three windows wide at the time. Over the centuries, the building has undergone several transformations. In 1730, a major renovation was carried out, including the addition of the wide corridor and the monumental staircase. Around 1770, the adjacent coach house was acquired, after which both buildings were merged into a wide house in the 19th century, while retaining an 18th-century hall.
The hall of the building is a true feast for the eyes, with impressive wall and ceiling sculptures of stucco, which depict, among other things, the continents and classical allegories. The beautiful wooden railings of the stairs to the floors, made by father and son Van Logteren in the first half of the 18th century, are also masterpieces in themselves.
The building now has a facade of five windows wide, with an imposing front door in the middle and a double sidewalk. It comprises four residential floors, a basement and an attic at the top. On the facade, a shield commemorates one of the famous residents, Heinrich Schliemann, the discoverer of Troy. The building has also served as a community for the brothers of Saint Louis, the front room of which can still be seen in the canal museum.
Currently, the building is divided into eight residential units, including the back house, and is equipped with an elevator.

The apartment consists of two beautiful period Rooms with impressive ceiling heights of 4.5 meters. From this room you can enjoy a beautiful view of the canal.
At the rear of the apartment is an open kitchen and bathroom, designed according to an architectural concept. The custom-made kitchen is equipped with high-quality Miele built-in appliances, including a fridge/freezer, combination microwave and dishwasher. In addition, the kitchen has a BORA induction hob with an integrated extraction system, which ensures a seamless and modern cooking experience.

The mezzanine has created a unique sleeping area, also providing space for a workplace or desk area. This smart layout makes optimal use of the height of the space and contributes to the enjoyment of living. Thanks to the mezzanine, an extra dimension is added to the space, creating a special living experience.
