Spotlight; Maison D’Angle

Corner House

The most beautiful corner house, also known as Maison d'Angle, that I know in Amsterdam. It Immediately eye, and because I have cycled past it almost every day for 30 years, I know every detail of the facade. At the office, we even have a black-and-white photo from 80 years ago showing the street scene at that time, which proves that the building has always retained its original appearance.
I have also known the building internally since the 1990s and have been involved in both its purchase and sale in the past. This means I know what it is like inside and, more importantly, how the house beautifully showcases its surroundings from the inside. Thanks to the windows on three sides, the house is bathed in pleasant light.
The property is ready for a new owner who will fall in love with the charm and extra potential of this unique house. With the plans that are in place, the property can be prepared for the coming decades—an investment that is more than worthwhile. Whoever comes to live here will feel connected to the times and the neighborhood.

Architecture

This distinctive villa, built in 1893, was designed by architect C.A. Alizis Wübbe in a characteristic neo-Mannerist style. With three visible sides and an impressive, richly decorated facade, this building is a real eye-catcher and a wonderful example of historical architecture. Located on the corner of Van Eeghenstraat and Jacob Obrechtstraat, it marks the elegant conclusion of this block. In 1918, the first internal renovation took Location, carried out by H. Hölte & Co. on behalf of J.D.J. Eysken-Sluyters. At that time, the building was adapted to the modern requirements of the day, including the addition of a freight elevator. The villa is distinguished by four facades, a prominent corner location with large windows, a balcony, and a south-facing terrace. The main entrance is located on Van Eeghenstraat. Thanks to its generous width, the building offers a balanced floor plan, with four spacious floors, each measuring more than 140 m². The floors from the ground floor upwards are particularly light and offer beautiful sightlines.

Franzen

Chef and owner Jesse Franzen grew up in a catering family in Haarlem. His father worked in the kitchen, his mother worked in the service. With Franzen, Jesse creates a place that feels like a modern living room for the city. Accessible and warm, but always with a high standard. The menu is classic and recognizable, with a surprising twist here and there.

L'Entrecôte et les Dames

L’Entrecôte et les Dames embraces the concept of a formula restaurant, as the French call it. Within an attractively decorated French brasserie, the entrecôte takes center stage, always lightly cooked 'bleu' from Maas-Rhein-IJssel cattle. This is served with fries and a refreshing salad. If you are still hungry afterwards, you will be served another portion. Prefer not to eat meat? As an alternative, they serve sole fried in butter with ravigotte sauce. Same formula and same price as the entrecôte menu.
