Design vision

Number is part of the Zeerust Owners' Association. The 17th-century double house Zeerust, formerly occupied by a relative of Van Loon, stood on the site of Number . The name stone still commemorates this period.
Prior to the construction in 1937-1939, the existing buildings were renovated several times. Since 1906-1907, the Javasche Bank had been the client for these changes. C.B. Posthumus Meyjes Sr. was the architect involved in these early renovations. In 1921, he collaborated with C.B. Posthumus Meyjes Jr. on the construction of a garden house that has since disappeared.
In 1930-1931, Keizersgracht 664 was also added to the offices of N.V. Javasche Bank. The building was constructed in the traditionalist style with influences from neoclassicism. The representative facade of dark brown brick with a bluestone plinth and a sandstone entrance looks so authentic that it appears to be several centuries older.
In the 1990s, the bank left the building and residences were residences .

Accessibility

The Keizersgracht forms an elegant line through the heart of Amsterdam, flanked by stately townhouses, elegant bridges, and mature trees. In this section, the canal scene is exceptionally peaceful, with no houseboats, allowing the architecture on the opposite bank to truly shine. Just around the corner lies the Vijzelgracht, home to Holtkamp, various coffee shops, and Bar Do. The Amstelveld, with its flower market and terraces such as De Nieuwe Marcella and Café Nel, adds a lively dimension. Utrechtsestraat offers a high-quality selection of delicacies and fine dining, while cultural icons such as the Stopera, Carré, and the Hermitage enrich daily life. The Albert Cuyp Market and De Pijp are just a short walk away.

Accessibility The location is characterized by excellent connections to the city. The Vijzelgracht metro station (North-South Line) and the stops on Wibautstraat provide direct access to Central Station and Amsterdam Amstel Station, among other destinations, both of which are reachable within approximately ten minutes. Various tram lines, including lines 3, 7, 19, and 24, connect the location to diverse parts of the city, from Sloterdijk to the VU Medical Center and Flevopark. By car, there is easy access to the A10 ring road via Wibautstraat and Van Woustraat, among other routes. By bike, the entire city is within easy reach. Its location between De Pijp and the city center offers a balanced combination of vibrancy and accessibility.

Parking Parking is managed through the permit system (Centrum-2g permit zone). A resident permit for this zone also grants access to parking within Centrum-2. A unique feature is the parking garage above the Vijzelgracht metro station, approximately 80 meters away, where residents can park at no additional cost with their resident permit. This provides a convenient and direct parking solution, comparable to a designated spot. The cost of a resident permit is €315.60 per six months. The current waiting period is approximately six months. No second resident permit is issued within this permit zone. (Source: Local authority , March 2026).

Museum van Loon

Museum van Loon is located in a former house from 1672 on the Amsterdam canals. In addition to a permanent exhibition with (historical) portraits, furniture, silverware and porcelain, temporary exhibitions are also organized here in which part of the museum's collection, the house, or the history of the Van Loon family is central. Behind the house is the unique garden that was laid out in the style of the 17th century. In short, a museum where you can go for heritage, art history and contemporary art.

Tuschinski Theater

The Royal Theater Tuschinski was built in various architectural styles, including Amsterdam School style, Jugendstil, and art deco. It was designed by Hijman Louis de Jong and opened in 1921. The exterior of the building immediately catches the eye with its many decorations and sculptures, and when you enter the foyer, you are instantly transported to another era. Beautiful decorations, carpeted floors, and murals take you back to the 1920s. In the main auditorium, you can admire all the details, the ornaments, and the ceiling that the architect incorporated into the design. In addition to the main auditorium, there are also several smaller auditoriums where cabaret performances used to be held, which are now also used as movie theaters. Many premieres are held at Tuschinski, and the cinema is owned by the Pathé cinema chain.

Casa del gusto

Gianni and Gessica have a clear vision for the future of Casa del Gusto. 'We want to remain a small company that works with small-scale farmers: that is our concept. 'We know all the farmers we work with personally. We buy our Grana Padano – Italy's most popular cheese – from a farmer who only produces two pieces a day. That is almost nothing compared to large industrial producers who deliver hundreds of pieces a day. What we find very important is that you get to know the producers through the taste of our salamis, pastas and beers.' You should be able to taste the love that the farmers have put into it', explains Gessica. From hazelnut paste and gnocchi to bottarga and aloe vera beauty products: the shop is full of delicious delicacies and beautiful products. Casa del Gusto is, as the name suggests, a house of taste for its customers.
