A peaceful haven in beautiful Amsterdam
When we left Jan van Eijckstraat 25 years ago to live outside the city, we already felt that we would return here at the right moment. Located in the heart of Amsterdam-Zuid, this quiet street is a very nice place to live.
The location around the corner from the lively Beethovenstraat and close to the trendy Cornelis Schuytstraat, with everything within easy reach, from greengrocers to brasseries, is one of the things we will miss about the neighborhood. Just a few minutes' walk to CLAIRE for a French croissant or a drink at sunset by the water in the garden of the nearby Hilton hotel.
The great thing about this apartment is the large Floor area one floor. Thanks to its width of 12 meters, we were able to realize all our wishes here. We spent many hours sitting at the kitchen table with architect Florentijn Vleugels of DENOLDERVLEUGELS Architects & Associates to come up with the perfect design with the best sightlines, walking routes, and light incidence. From wall to wall, the house was completely stripped and rebuilt from scratch, with fully integrated home automation, underfloor heating, and air conditioning, among other things. This also resulted in a much more logical layout. For example, the kitchen was moved to the front of the house, where you have an unobstructed view due to its location Immediately Albrecht Dürerstraat. This also allows you to enjoy the sun in the living room and kitchen all year round. The low townhouses across the street also contribute to this. The deep gardens with evergreen trees at the rear of Apollolaan provide a lot of privacy on that side.
One of our favorite spots in our house is enjoying the first rays of sunshine in the morning with a cappuccino in the kitchen's French doors. This was always a wonderful start to the day. But we also Roof terrace great use of the Roof terrace . Moving the stairs improved the layout from the kitchen, making it easier to walk up through the atrium to barbecue or have a drink.
Due to new plans in our lives, we will now be leaving this wonderful place. We have thoroughly enjoyed living here and Roof terrace not only the apartment but also the neighborhood, the easy access to Schiphol Airport (about 20 minutes from home to the departure hall by tram and train), the many restaurants, and the spectacular view of the Zuidas from the Roof terrace . Who knows, maybe we'll be back here in a few years!
