Le Grand Charme
This particular house, in this unique location on the street, is very special. As a municipal monument, it is a fine example of early 20th-century architecture. In this part of the street, the residences have Front garden, and this house in particular is conveniently located in relation to the greenery of the gardens in the block behind it. I was aware of this because we were previously involved in the sale of the house for one of the previous owners.
What surprised me, however, and what immediately struck me upon entering, is that the house now comes into its own. The previous residents had not succeeded in doing this. With a sense of history and great taste, the house has been renovated by the current owners. The colors and finishes appeal to the imagination, and I am enthusiastic about being able to assist with the sale of this house. In fact, this house is a hidden gem, where once inside, one discovers that it offers a surprising amount of privacy and unobstructed views. The floors have extra height, which lends the property a certain grandeur. The charm is reflected in the color schemes and beautiful wallpaper. With a total of 285 m² of living space, spread over four and a half floors and a basement, the house offers a sheltered west-facing garden and a sunny terrace for sun worshippers. Living here is a privilege.

Built between 1917 and 1920, this building is part of a block that continues around the corner on J.J. Viottastraat. It was designed in the early Amsterdam School style by architect Guillaume La Croix, commissioned by Heere van der Schaar. The building is a national monument and has been given a typical La Croix feature with the brick and wooden fences with decorations that separate the front gardens from the sidewalk. The divisions of the window sections are vertical, with the windows having a striking diamond-shaped layout. The roof is covered with red tiles and is cut. The facade has a parabolic-shaped bent top with decorative brickwork, in which a French balcony with an iron balustrade has been installed. The windows below have the same rich detailing and divisions. The front door has been restored and painted in monument green and white. The entrance is sturdy and original. The house is mirrored two by two with the neighboring property. This is continued throughout the block. It is a pity that the part of the block towards the corner of De Lairessestraat burned down and was unfortunately rebuilt with a less attractive building as a hotel. Number has largely retained its monumental atmosphere and details internally; the owners have succeeded in providing the house with modern amenities and comfort.
