The 18th edition of Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam Location Wednesday, October 9, through Sunday, October 13. Once again, the venue will be the iconic Kromhouthal on the Gedempte Hamerkanaal. The selection is impressive and includes a variety of media, including paintings, photographs, sculptures, ceramics, textile works, and much more. The list of participating galleries is also impressive. This year, there are more than sixty-five from ten countries, including Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Japan. Nevertheless, more than half are from the Netherlands. To name a few: Jaski Gallery, MICK Galerie, Rademakers Gallery, Wanrooij Gallery, Okker Art Gallery, SBK Galerie, and Post Modern Collection, all from Amsterdam; Galerie Untitled from Rotterdam; Chiefs & Spirits from The Hague; Galerie van Dun from Oisterwijk; and Galerie Année from Haarlem.
Affordable Art
All galleries are required to display the prices of their works as standard practice, as a way of promoting transparency and keeping visitors informed. The Affordable Art Fair offers both novice and experienced art buyers an excellent opportunity to explore the contemporary art scene. At the same time, it enables art lovers to support the artistic ecosystem by purchasing works by living artists. The fair encourages visitors to take their purchases home Immediately . There is a free packing service where newly purchased works are safely packed by a professional fair partner, Wall to Wall Art Solutions. Wall to Wall Art Solutions also offers a delivery service for a fee.
Special projects
The program for this 18th edition of Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam includes a variety of lectures, curated sections, presentations by emerging artists, interactive activities, and site-specific Services and installations. As part of this, Tomislav Topic, known from the artist duo Quintessenz and various solo activities, is designing an installation of painted fiberglass mesh that will hang from the ceiling of the Kromhouthal.
The young Brussels artist Jules Wittock will present his new installation Mindset. The hand-painted labyrinths with which he will cover the walls will cause many visitors to lose themselves for a moment.
Blythe Bolton: Director of Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam and Brussels
Blythe Bolton, born in Edinburgh, studied contemporary art history in Los Angeles and at the world-renowned University of St. Andrews in Scotland. In 2014, she moved to Amsterdam, where she began her successful career in the international art trade. Since 2018, Bolton has been one of the driving forces behind the success of the Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam, the fair she quickly took charge of. Since 2021, Bolton has also been director of the Affordable Art Fair Brussels. As an internationally oriented art professional, she divides her time between Amsterdam, Brussels, Edinburgh, and London.
Art consulting
For the first time this year, Affordabele Art Fair Amsterdam is offering a free 'art advice' service, provided by Margitte Verwoerdt. This experienced art advisor and art historian is available to answer all kinds of questions. What is the best route to follow in the Kromhouthal? What questions should you ask a gallery owner? How do you form your own opinion? Margitte thinks along with prospective buyers and also gives advice on choosing the perfect work of art for a specific space. With this new initiative, Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam hopes to better serve not only novice buyers but also seasoned art collectors. The service is Available all five days of the fair.
