A source of inspiration in Bergen Noord Holland
Painter and monumental artist Jaap Min was born on September 16, 1914, in Bergen (NH). He lived and worked here his entire life, with the exception of his years of study at the Rijksacademie Amsterdam. He took lessons from Prof. J. Jurres (drawing), Prof. W.H. van den Berg (painting), and Heinrich Campendonck (monumental techniques). His deep involvement with the people around him is reflected in many of his figures and portraits. But Min was not a man who sought publicity. He preferred to work in the privacy of his studio or in the silence of the countryside. His free work stems from Bergen expressionism, but developed in a highly personal direction. The current residents: "Upon arrival, the farm offers ultimate peace and quiet. The house is designed to accommodate many guests, and with both the sea and the village nearby, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to enjoy themselves. But it is especially the moment of arrival, lighting the fireplace, and enjoying the peace and nature in the garden that makes the farm so special. The former home of painter Jaap Min, a prominent member of the Bergen School, in the most beautiful spot in Bergen, was granted to us by the family 10 years ago. Much needed to be renovated, but the structure and layout remained largely intact. There is too much to mention, but the moment in the early evening, when the 'white women' fog rolls in over the protected nature reserve De Voert towards the house and the sun slowly sinks over the dunes towards the horizon, is of indescribable beauty.
This farmhouse, located just outside Amsterdam, was once home to the painter Jaap Min. It also served as his studio. The plot offers views of the farmlands and, in the distance, the dunes that inspired the painter to capture the most beautiful landscapes on canvas. Drawing on that romanticism and experience, the current residents have modernized the farmhouse into a residential farmhouse with a Burgundian character.
