Bistrot neuf

Bistrot Neuf is a cozy bistro with a modern interior in the middle of lively Amsterdam. It was once rightly proclaimed the best French establishment in Amsterdam, and that is understandable. The permanent menu is full of French classics such as bouillabaisse, snails and steak tartare. As one of the few in Amsterdam, warm lunch is also served here, but you can also dine here in a cozy and uncomplicated Parisian style with a good glass of wine.

De Belhamel

This restaurant distinguishes itself in terms of both location and interior. The restaurant and the bar (a real speakeasy) both have a romantic Parisian Art Nouveau atmosphere. French-inspired classics enhance this unique identity with tarte tatin of shallots, silver onions, blue cheese and mustard caramel or pain perdu of brioche with yogurt-orange ice cream. In the summer you can sit on the terrace on the Brouwersgracht.

Café de Vrouw met de Baard

De Vrouw met de Baard - the name alone is reason enough to pop in here sometime. Entirely with its own merchandise, its own sambal and soul cookbook and playlist, the eatery in the center is making its mark on the Indonesian/Moluccan cuisine. Even though the Rendang is the dish for which people come from miles around, the vegetarian alternatives with jackfruit and eggplant are also more than worth it. The living room-like atmosphere gives the whole a real family feeling, which according to the owners themselves is exactly the purpose of soul and comfort food!

Vermeer Restaurant

Many restaurants claim to give vegetables an important role. At Vermeer, this is truly the case. The kitchen has even been adapted to accommodate this. When the hotel restaurant was renovated a few years ago, chef Chris Naylor also made the switch to a somewhat lighter cuisine. There is still plenty of Location beautiful fresh and special meats, but a radish from the rooftop garden is just as likely to be served as an amuse-bouche. The restaurant is located in the NH Hotel Barbizon Palace, opened in 1988, and Gault Millau has awarded it 18 out of a maximum of 20 points.

In 't Aepjen

In the 16th century (the time of the Dutch East India Company), the cafe offered cheap accommodation to sailors. The sailors brought monkeys from overseas. These adorable monkeys were, of course, full of fleas, so everyone who stayed In 't Aepjen came out scratching from the itching. Allegedly, this is where the name of the cafe and the expression "in de aap gelogeerd zijn" (to be in the monkey's lodging, meaning to be in a bad situation) come from. Nowadays, you can still enjoy a drink and look around at all the relics that have been preserved.

Max, born in Jakarta, learned the basics from his mother, who was a cook. Don't expect Indonesian nostalgia, but his own, light-footed interpretation of Indonesian cuisine. Linguini

Simplicity is essential in Italian cuisine: as long as the ingredients are good, you don't need much. “Less is more”. They understand that well at Linguini in the Herenstraat. The interior exudes the Italian dolce vita feeling: attractive old tiles and a beautiful long sofa as an eye-catcher: Linguini is a cozy and warm trattoria, with attention to detail. The menu is small and mainly consists of pasta. You can order this either in a small portion (for one person), or in Italian style in a large pan for the ‘famiglia’. So, pasta, pasta, pasta. All prepared with love and passion by the Italian ‘pasta maestro’ named Lorenzo Isidoro.

Sukha means 'joy of life' in Sanskrit, and that joy is reflected in the beautifully decorated, light-filled building on Haarlemmerstraat in Amsterdam.
