The office building has a clock gable with rich decoration. Immediately the hoist beam, a small boat can be seen. The Year of construction 1740) can be read beneath the curled decoration. Between the first and second floors, the name of the building (In Den Vergulden Harinckton) is elegantly displayed with a decorative harington, two herrings, and blue waves.
Prins Hendrikkade is named after the youngest son of King William II, Prince William Frederick Henry (1820-1879), a man with a keen interest in seafaring. Before 1879, this street was called Haringpakkerij. This is where the herring trade was based in the16th century.
