The former theater hall with its beautiful, still very recognizable stage is now used as an office. Building

The building at Oostenburgergracht 75 was designed in 1952 by architect Marius Duintjer. At the time, it was used as a recreation building for employees of the Werkspoor company. The building also served as the gateway to the factory complex behind it. In 1989, the Werktheater moved in. The Werkteater was an experimental theater company. Until 2014, the Oostenburgergracht was their home base. The monument was then completely renovated in 2016. The current owner has since converted this creative building into offices and a unique restaurant. Restaurant Coulisse is a fine dining restaurant that has held a MICHELIN star since 2023. Together, these form a stimulating mix of function and entertainment. Original ornaments have been preserved (such as the foyer, theater hall, and main stage), and new functions and designs have been applied. The result is a multifunctional concept where creativity still takes center stage.

Facilities

The theater hall has a pantry that serves as a coffee bar. Next to the pantry are beautiful French doors that open onto a small balcony. The workspace/consulting room on the mezzanine also has access to a small outdoor area.

Restaurant Fyr

Executive Chef and owner Elian Muller opened Fyr on Czaar Peterstraat after years of experience at restaurant Vinkeles, where he further refined his craft. His vision for Fyr is inspired by the four elements—water, earth, air, and fire—which together form the basis of the seasonal dishes. Muller works extensively with local products and techniques such as wood-fired cooking, symbolized by the large wood-fired oven in the kitchen. The menus are carefully constructed and reflect his love of robust flavors and elegant presentation. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with a modern interior.

Brouwerij 't IJ

Brouwerij 't IJ is a brewery located in an old bathhouse and is easy to recognize because it is located next to the De Gooyer windmill. They make specialty beers and these are simply made from Amsterdam tap water. It once started as a small-scale artisanal brewery with two types of beer, but in the meantime the brand has also gained fame outside Amsterdam and the range has expanded considerably. For example, taste the well-known 'natte' (wet), 'zatte' (drunk) and IJwit or try one of the seasonal beers; such as 'PaasIJ' (EasterIJ) or 'IJndejaars' (End of Year IJ). The brewery also has a tasting room and a large sunny terrace with a jetty.

Frank's Smokehouse

Frank's smokehouse has been located in Amsterdam for more than twenty years, still in the same place where the first real store was opened on the Wittenburgergracht. As early as 1984, Frank learned to smoke trout in Sweden and was thus captivated by the simple primal form of preservation. When he continued this in his Rear garden in Amsterdam, friends first became his customers and grew into an established smokehouse. If you walk past it, you can already smell the scent of artisanal smoked fish and meat outside.
