City Church
Living in the chic center of the city is a privilege. I personally lived on Lange Leidsedwarsstraat for several years and had the opportunity to experience this part of the city. The dynamic nature of the center is something I greatly enjoyed; it’s the reason you want to live in the city.
The property at Kerkstraat 88 I is surprising in many ways. The playful character, the layout, and the tranquility in the back part of the house will positively surprise potential buyers. I experienced this myself.
If you are interested, I would be happy to invite you to visit. Of course, I will tell you more about the apartment then. Perhaps see you soon!

Architecture
The building at Kerkstraat 88 was constructed as a single unit around 1782 in an atypical (neo-Renaissance) architectural style for the area. Characteristic of the building and its style are the use of a brick facade combined with various natural stone details and richly detailed facade anchors. The facade features symmetry and detailing typical of neo-Renaissance style, such as arched windows and decorative elements above the window frames. The facade of this building is a “lijstgevel” (list facade). This type of facade is characterized by a straight, often simple upper edge (the “lijst”) that caps the facade. In this case, there is a clear cornice at the top of the facade that covers it. The list facade was a common facade type in urban architecture in the Netherlands, especially for mansions and residential houses. Over the years, the front facade of the building has been adapted several times to suit the functionality of, for example, a workshop or shop.
In 2010, a major renovation took place, during which the shell and the outer envelope were thoroughly addressed. The foundation was also repaired. The entire renovation was carried out under the supervision of architect André van Stigt. Van Stigt is known primarily for his renovation projects, including a large number of schools in Amsterdam, the Conservatorium Hotel, Apollohallen, and the Filmmuseum.
