Formerly, a distinctive building stood here that was meant to be restored, but it turned out to be filled with asbestos and therefore had to be demolished. A unique opportunity that architect Roberto Meijer immediately recognized and translated into a sketch for the owners. In doing so, he followed the contours of the existing structure. Together with his team, Roberto Meijer elaborated these sketches into a fully developed plan based on an extensive program of requirements, resulting in what already stands as a monumental building of the same size and stature. Majestic, iconic, understatedly chic, and marked by the unmistakable signature of Roberto Meijer. In contrast to the sombre and closed clinic, Valerius is highly transparent, light, and open. A building that brings vibrancy to the neighbourhood. At the same time, Valerius fits seamlessly into its surroundings. Classical elements and rich brick detailing harmonise with the architecture of the area without becoming conventional. On the contrary, with its timeless design, Valerius is a monument for the future. Roberto Meyer of MVSA Architects is responsible for the contemporary and elegant design of Valerius. For the interiors, DIS STUDIO was commissioned. The refined sense of luxury they brought to the layout and finishes ensures a timeless quality that will retain its value over time. For DIS STUDIO, Daniela Germone also defined the interior of the communal spaces. Furthermore, DIS STUDIO, in collaboration with Boffi, designed the kitchens and bathrooms of this apartment and coordinated the colour palette of walls, parquet flooring, and doorframes into a harmonious whole.
The sitting area is oriented towards the outdoors, with views of the terrace and garden. The dining area forms the connection between the living space and the kitchen, offering room for a generous table, a place for long evenings and open conversations. The glass façade enhances the panoramic character of this space. The kitchen is positioned in a separate room, providing calm and focus. The layout was designed by DIS STUDIO and executed in bespoke craftsmanship by Boffi, featuring a natural stone island, warm-toned cabinetry, and seamlessly integrated appliances. Transparent interior doors maintain a connection between the kitchen and the rest of the residence. An adjoining utility room accommodates additional storage and technical equipment. At the heart of the apartment lies a spacious hall with cloakroom, guest lavatory, and access to the laundry. The floor is finished in oak herringbone parquet with underfloor heating and cooling, managed by a home automation system for optimal climate comfort.
On the eastern side of the apartment lies the owner’s suite: a spacious, almost loft-like domain where sleeping, bathing, and dressing merge into a harmonious whole. The en suite bathroom is designed in the spirit of the interior: understated, symmetrical, and refined. It features a freestanding bath, a generous walk-in shower, and a double washbasin in natural stone. Subtle accents in brass and matte white ceramics provide balance and serenity. Adjacent to the owner’s suite is a second bedroom, fully self-contained and equipped with its own bathroom with shower, washbasin, and toilet. This room is perfectly suited as a guestroom or private retreat. The sleeping quarters are set apart from the living areas, ensuring the highest degree of privacy and calm.
