Pakhuis façade | A contemporary and exceptionally comfortable ground-floor residence of approximately 251 m², featuring a magnificent southeast-facing garden of around 120 m². Naturally, the property is situated on freehold land.
Tour
At the rear, the living area spans the full width of the house, with sliding doors that create a seamless transition to the outdoors. A herringbone floor, warm wall finishes and a built-in fireplace provide a sense of calm and balance.
The modern kitchen forms the heart of the home. A long marble worktop, integrated appliances, and a direct connection to both the dining area and the garden make this a natural gathering space. A change in level leads to a second sitting room with views of the patio and garden — ideal as a TV lounge or library.
At the front, a multifunctional room is currently in use as a study, but could equally serve as a space for fitness or play.
The primary bedroom is situated on the ground floor — a serene suite with a generous en-suite bathroom. A freestanding bathtub, walk-in shower, and marble vanity are subtly integrated into a calming space bathed in natural light.
On the lower ground level are two well-proportioned bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Thanks to the adjoining patio, natural light reaches this floor with surprising generosity, enhanced by the 2.55-metre ceiling height. Everything here breathes refinement — from the rain showers to the continuous herringbone parquet flooring.
Outdoor Space
The outdoor areas are truly exceptional. At the rear, a generous southeast-facing city garden offers sun, seclusion and greenery. The patio, positioned between both floors, provides a second sheltered, tranquil outdoor space. Together, they form a rare and harmonious ensemble — right in the city, yet with the atmosphere of a countryside retreat.

Pakhuis façade
An ultimate and highly comfortable family home of approximately 251 m², featuring a delightful southeast-facing garden of about 120 m².
In 2020, the building on Laurierstraat underwent a comprehensive renovation, including the foundation. This resulted in a surprising ground-floor apartment with ample space, comfortable bedrooms, and a fantastic garden. Our office had the privilege of selling the seven apartments for the developer at that time. The property was delivered turnkey, utilizing high-quality materials. The current owners have further enhanced it with custom-built wardrobes, the installation of a gas fireplace, and exquisite wall finishes.
What I personally find so appealing is that you live in a vibrant location yet experience a serene tranquility indoors. A sublime and contemporary ground-floor residence in the Jordaan, situated on freehold land.

Behind an understated façade on Laurierstraat unfolds a home that will surprise everyone. Everything here is focused on balance—between tranquility and sophistication, tradition and modernity. The modest exterior architecture reveals little of the serene interior characterized by soft colors and natural materials. The floor plan is unusually elongated and subtly divides into various spaces for living and potentially working from home.
Historically, number 246 was associated with the exclusive Dutch car brand ‘Spyker’; the renewed garage doors pay homage to this rich history. The building was fully renovated in 2020, including a new foundation, with attention to optimal layout and abundant natural light.
The living areas are organized around the greenery. At the rear, adjacent to the deep garden, lies a spacious living room with sliding doors spanning the full width. A space of softness and light, featuring a warm herringbone floor, subtle wall finishes, and a serene seating area. The built-in fireplace serves as a subtle focal point, flanked by custom cabinets and open shelves where books and objects find their place.
The kitchen is generous and thoughtfully designed. An elongated natural stone countertop provides space for cooking, serving, and gathering, with a wall unit in calming tones behind it. All appliances, such as a Quooker, wine climate cabinet, induction hob with downdraft ventilation system, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, etc., are fully integrated. The design is minimalist yet rich in material use due to the marble countertop. The dining area is situated directly at the island and overlooks the garden, seamlessly connecting the indoors with the outdoors.
A level difference leads to a second sitting room adjacent to the patio, which can be set up as an intimate TV corner or reading room. This space features beautiful custom-made cabinets, with concealed access to other rooms. At the front of the house is a multifunctional area currently used as an office but also ideal for children or exercise. Between this space and the rest of the house is a stunning steel-framed glass partition, providing a beautiful separation.
The sleeping quarters exude the same refinement as the rest of the house: understated luxury, warm materials, and a soothing, almost monastic atmosphere. The master bedroom, located on the ground floor, is a true suite. The room opens onto the garden-side balcony and seamlessly transitions into a spacious bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, double marble sink, walk-in shower, and ample natural light. Built-in wardrobes maintain a clean aesthetic, while light filters in through the tall windows.
In the basement, there are two generous bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and toilet. The rooms are illuminated via the patio and are surprisingly bright for a lower level (ceiling height 2.55 m). The bathrooms are meticulously designed, featuring marble sink units, large mirrors, double rain showers, and a subdued color palette. Here too, the lines are clean, the materials rich, and the finishes exceptional. The herringbone parquet flooring continues throughout, ensuring continuity and warmth in the interior.
This level also houses a spacious laundry room that can also serve as storage.
The outdoor area of Laurierstraat 246 H is both surprisingly spacious and exceptionally well-maintained. At the rear unfolds a deep city garden of over 120 m² facing southeast. A secluded and sunny garden. The wooden fences, ornamental lawn, and mature planting provide a clear structure and natural privacy. From the living area, wide glass doors open onto the terrace, which seamlessly transitions into the lawn. The level difference between the terrace and garden enhances the spatial effect, making the garden a full-fledged extension of the interior. The paths are subtly laid out, with understated planting in earthenware pots adding color and character.
On the side is a second outdoor space: an intimate patio adjacent to the basement bedrooms. Here, the atmosphere is sheltered and serene. Thanks to the high white walls and the clean lines of the deck flooring, a clear, minimalist ensemble is created. Both outdoor spaces are exceptional in proportion to the home and rare in the city center. They offer space, sun, and tranquility—in the heart of the Jordaan.
The property is situated in a charming and vibrant neighbourhood in the heart of Amsterdam, along the Lauriergracht, known for its historical character and modern dynamism. Within walking distance are the iconic Amsterdam canals, historic buildings, museums, and a diverse selection of dining options — from traditional cafés to refined restaurants. The nearby Jordaan district offers a rich array of boutiques, markets such as the Noordermarkt, and local delicacies. Lauriergracht blends Amsterdam’s history with contemporary city life, making it a truly unique place to live.
