Flour

Farine is Mitchel Charles' French bakery. He moved from England to Amsterdam just before Brexit and combined his background as a chef and barista here. After years at Coffee & Coconuts, he decided to create his own place, offering French classics that, according to regular customers, taste just like home. Charles sees the business as his personal project, from the bright blue façade to the timeless design, in which he brings together his love of branding and craftsmanship. In the bakery, everything revolves around quality, with butter from France, flour from regenerative agriculture, and coffee from Un.common, carefully selected after visits to several roasters.

Fort Nine Bakery

At Fort negen in De Baarsjes, you can see how bread is baked. While you eat your freshly baked croissant, you can watch the bakers passionately kneading dough on the flour-covered workbenches in the shop and in front of the display window. The bakers use a traditional method of bread making, with the sourdough bread rising for no less than 26 hours. This ensures a delicious crispy crust and a soft inside. They only use organic products and make everything by hand. Another fun thing is that you can take a workshop on making sourdough bread or croissants.

The brothers ran restaurant Los Pilones in the city center for 20 years, mainly catering to tourists. With Lupe, they want to offer a more local and neighborhood-oriented experience. The staff has a Mexican background, and guests can enjoy a menu of delicious snacks to share, such as enchiladas, tortillas with beans and spicy shrimp, and ceviche. Café Restaurant Amsterdam

For steak, fruit de mer, or sticky toffee cake, Café Restaurant Amsterdam is always a good choice. This restaurant has been located in the old Machinepomp building on Watertorenplein since 1996. It has since become an integral part of Amsterdam's hospitality scene. The industrial look of the restaurant makes a big impression, but at the same time it has remained cozy. The food is good, and in the summer you can sit on the terrace by the water. It is also a great place for large groups to enjoy a long meal. You can also have a delicious lunch or just a cup of coffee with a newspaper. In any case, it is worth taking a look at this fantastic building.

West Recycling Center

Kringloop West is the place to go for beautiful items at affordable prices. Here, old furniture is given a new lease of life in collaboration with the furniture makers at De Opwaardeerkamer. In the space below the store, various makers work on upcycling old items. Designer Miguel Visser from Hellingproof, for example, transforms an old drum into a new lamp. Another specialty of this thrift store is refurbished vintage racing bikes.
