Wilhelmina's House
Our clients have been living in this house since 2008 and renovated it in 2018. They converted two separate apartments into one house and extended it. The result is a beautiful double ground floor apartment with a practical layout, located in one of the most beautiful and cozy streets in Amsterdam Oud-West. Now that their children are getting older and both of them have developed a strong desire to live in the province of Brabant, it is time to sell this charming garden house.
When we first met, they told me at the kitchen table that they have always enjoyed living on Wilhelminastraat. They know everyone in the neighborhood, help each other when needed, and organize a neighborhood BBQ at least once a year, which creates a very secure feeling. It is therefore a big step for them to leave the city.
Their home is ideal for both couples and families. They moved here as a couple and fortunately did not have to move when they had children. The house offers plenty of space, and it is nice that the bedrooms are on the first floor and the living area is downstairs, adjacent to the garden.

What residents will miss
Wilhelminastraat in Amsterdam is a household name, and rightly so. Everyone knows this street with its beautiful trees and location close to Vondelpark.
We make extensive use of facilities that are just minutes away, such as the shopping streets De Kinkerstraat and Jan Pieter Heijestraat, various restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, the playground on Cremerplein, Ten Kate market, Vondelpark, museums, and the city center. Kinkerstraat has all the shops we need, and at Ten Kate market we can get everything we need for a tasty snack platter. The food halls with the library and cinema are great places to hang out when the weather is bad.
We also have good relationships with all our neighbors and help each other out with things like a clove of garlic or keeping a spare key. At least once a year, there is a neighborhood BBQ where everyone is welcome. Spontaneous moments often arise on the street when we meet each other.
In 2008, we were the lucky ones who got to live in Oud-West, which was already our favorite neighborhood at the time. From the outside, the houses look narrow and perhaps small, but inside there is plenty of space for all times of the day. In 2018, we combined two separate apartments into one house and expanded it. The house has been lovingly renovated and modernized for optimal comfort. During the renovation, we paid extra attention to achieving a good balance between a practical layout with sufficient storage space and living comfort.
The upper floor is efficiently laid out with three spacious bedrooms, making optimal use of every square meter. The washing machine and dryer are neatly concealed in a cupboard, with a shelf opposite for the drying rack, so laundry never gets in the way. Additional storage space is located under the stairs and above the downstairs toilet, while the wide wardrobe in the hallway is ideal for storing a stroller or racing bike. The wide door to the living room makes it easy to enter with a stroller, and the cozy gas fireplace between the kitchen and living room adds a touch of luxury. In winter, we enjoy an aperitif by the fireplace after a brisk walk. The modern kitchen, equipped with a generous oven, a Quooker Flex, and ample cupboard space, is lit by a skylight on the extension, giving the kitchen a light, open atmosphere. We have often enjoyed extensive meals here with family and friends. In the summer, we open the doors to the garden wide to create an indoor-outdoor feeling, listening to the cheerful singing of birds. The enclosed courtyard garden offers an oasis of tranquility, where you are sometimes treated to the beautiful piano playing of a neighbor, while the evening sun welcomes you on the balcony on the first floor.
For us, the time has come to return to our roots in Brabant, where we can give the children even more outdoor space. We hope that the new owners will enjoy this place as much as we have.
