neighborhood guide De Houthavens: a successful and lively new neighborhood with seven islands and charming canals. The neighborhood is now truly bustling, with a cozy coffee shop, a park, and various playgrounds for children. Wiborgeiland is characterized by a wide, car-free street surrounded by water. There are countless great places in the neighborhood. Hotel Boat&Co has the restaurant Vessel, which is open from early in the morning until late at night. It has a beautiful terrace on the water, where many people swim in the summer. Bar Hout is adjacent to the playground, ideal when the children are playing (and they also have delicious lunch dishes and snacks). For coffee or lunch, Anne&Max and Dignita (in Spaarndammerstraat) are highly recommended. In the same street, you will also find cozy restaurants and bars such as Café De Walvis, Compartir, Freud, and Morris & Bella, all within a few minutes' walking distance. The ferry or your own boat will take you to Noord in no time, where you can enjoy hotspots such as Loetje, Pllek, or Helling 7. For groceries, Spaarndammerstraat offers everything you need, including supermarkets, a bakery, butcher, greengrocer, and more. De Houthavens has its own park, the Houthavenpark, and for those with green fingers, there is Tuinpark Zonnehoek. STOERE JONGENS No. 163
As a real estate agency, we assist with the sale of a wide range of properties. For us as real estate agents, this variety is very challenging and contributes to the complete picture you get of the housing market in Amsterdam. Personally, I find the design and layout of the Houthavens very well thought out and a nice connection to the "old city." The neighborhood has a very pleasant dynamic and excellent amenities. Spaarndammerstraat and Haarlemmerstraat, among others, offer a diverse range of shops, specialty stores, and caterers. There are also several good restaurants and cozy cafés in the neighborhood. The apartment is a very tasteful and well-maintained ground floor apartment of approximately 65 m². The property offers a perfect combination of contemporary living and comfort. It has a spacious living room with high ceilings (3.31 meters) adjacent to the loggia. The apartment has a beautiful kitchen with a cooking island, a full bedroom with a well-appointed en suite bathroom, underfloor heating/cooling, sturdy wooden floors, a laundry room, a separate toilet, and a loggia. It is a refined home where you will Immediately feel Immediately . The property was built in 2018 as part of a large-scale development, focused on the future with extra insulation measures, gas-free construction, and the installation of underfloor heating/cooling. If you are interested, I would like to invite you to come and take a look. I will, of course, tell you more about the apartment then. Hope to see you soon!

Design vision

The Local authority developers have agreed that the Houthavens must become a 100% climate-neutral neighborhood. The Houthavens has been built in an environmentally friendly manner, with extra attention paid to energy and material use. The project was completed in 2020 and designed by architect Neelu Boparai. He was inspired by the Houthavens itself, but also by the Entrepotdok, the robust warehouses in Hamburg, and the lofts in New York. The assignment for Wiborgeiland was to design a 150-meter-long residential strip offering views of the water on both sides. The theme for this island was 'tough guys', referring to the warehouses of the past. De Stoere Jongens is located on the first island on the west side of the Houthavens. All the islands in the Houthavens are named after Hanseatic cities with which trade was conducted in the past. Amsterdam's rich trading culture is reflected in Wiborg's architecture. There is a varied facade with nine variations for three apartment buildings and sixteen individual properties. The sturdy warehouses have different details, ranging from a sleek, more modern look to a more literal translation of a classic warehouse with brickwork.

Living and cooking

The living room serves as the heart of the home. There is ample space for a sitting and dining area, the ideal place for relaxation and socializing. The large windows and very high ceiling of over 3.3 meters allow plenty of light to enter, further enriching the space. Adjacent to the living room is the loggia. The accordion-style doors create a pleasant connection with the outdoor space. The robust wooden floor, which runs throughout the apartment, and the corner location combine to create a unique and playful character. The open kitchen is equipped with Bosch built-in appliances, including a refrigerator, freezer, oven, combination microwave, dishwasher, and Bora induction hob.
The hall has a laundry room and a separate toilet.

Museum het Schip

Museum het Schip is a museum about the Amsterdam School; an art and architecture movement from the early 20th century. This movement is known for the strong housing ideals with which it is associated. The residential block in which the museum is located is perhaps just as special as the museum itself. The original post office in the building is special; the only post office in the Netherlands that has remained untouched since the 1920s. The elegant style of architect Michel de Klerk can be recognized throughout the building. In his designs, every detail has been considered.

Boon & de Koot

Following the success of Zoldering, chef Thomas Bron, wine importer Joost Clarijs, and sommeliers Job Seuren and Wout Jans opened Boon & de Koot, an accessible wine bar in the Zeeheldenbuurt neighborhood, without compromising on quality. The menu starts with hearty snacks such as oeuf mayo with roasted garlic and lovage, cleverly served so you can eat it in one bite. This is followed by refined starters such as raw sea bass with beurre noisette and calamansi or a coarse steak tartare with radicchio and anchovies. The real showstopper is the dish of roasted peas with tomatillo, olive, and egg yolk, a perfect interplay of smoke, freshness, and creaminess. Inside, there is a French bistro atmosphere, while outside, the terrace with marble tables and burgundy chairs invites you to linger for another glass.
