What residents will miss
This property has been rented out for a long time, with the tenant saying she didn't realize beforehand how much she would enjoy living here.
"Living here is incredible, free, light, and green. Thanks to the elevator, we were able to live here for a very long time. We really didn't want to leave. The house offers peace and quiet, and we had the neighborhood around the corner. The terrace was an extension of our living room. We used the terrace from February to the end of October."

Neighborhood Guide The apartment is centrally located on Van Eeghenstraat in the Zuid district, within the Museum Quarter, near Vondelpark, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Emmastraat—a highly sought-after residential area. Nearby attractions include the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum, and the Concertgebouw. Nearby are Beethovenstraat, P.C. The Wide Double Residence
Van Eeghenstraat 125/127 Broersma Wonen a familiar address for Broersma Wonen . This part of Van Eeghenstraat is considered the most sought-after area of the Concertgebouw neighborhood. We were previously involved here as consultants when the then-developer merged the buildings into residences . This intervention resulted in high-quality, spacious properties. The extra width on one floor creates opportunities for a balanced layout and allows more daylight to flood in. This is particularly true of this apartment of almost 154 m², which feels more spacious than the figures suggest. Architect Kodde designed the optimal layout, which differs from traditional apartments with staircases. The design provided space for a functional and contemporary floor plan, in which the generous Floor area comes Floor area its own. An elevator to the apartment, large windows, and an unobstructed view enhance the spaciousness and give this apartment a particularly pleasant character. It is an honor for us to find a new resident for this property.

The building

Van Eeghenstraat largely forms the boundary of the design by landscape architect Jan David Zocher, the designer of Vondelpark. The flowing patterns and lines of the park are reflected in the building line of this part of the street. In the straight section, between Jacob Obrechtstraat and Cornelis Schuytstraat, a public garden connects the street with the villas along the park. The row of facades that includes Number and 127 borders Immediately this public garden and fits seamlessly into the park's architecture in terms of urban design. The facades reflect the park's design language and are in keeping with the Art Nouveau style that was in vogue at the time. On the other side of the street, where deep gardens face south, the houses are sometimes designed individually and sometimes as a block. They are stately buildings with generous dimensions, large windows, bay windows, and richly detailed brickwork. Number is the last of six mansions built in 1900 by architect Albert Lubbers, while Number marks the beginning of a block of three residences. These houses were originally intended for wealthy families from the canal belt who longed for more greenery and space, inspired by the fin-de-siècle style from France. High ceilings, richly decorated ceilings and fireplaces, spacious entrances, and double doors gave these residences . They offered more light and air than the canal houses and were designed for large families with staff, often with space to conduct business at home.
In 2008 and 2009, both buildings became Available at the same time. The developer at the time, Steenvastgoed, recognized the need for spacious apartments on a single floor, accessible by elevator. Kodde Architecten translated this insight into a suitable design: the floors were merged into double-width apartments, with the south-facing location prompting the addition of generous windows. The historic details were retained at the front, while a contemporary living experience was created behind the façade. The result is one of the most unique apartments on Van Eeghenstraat.

Tamari Ya

Tamari Ya was founded by Imoto Yoshihisa and Yazawa Yuji, two Japanese entrepreneurs who started a farm-stay retreat in their village near Hiroshima and opened their first donut shop there in 2023 to revitalize their community. Out of their love for rice, they developed the komeko donut, made from rice flour from their own region and therefore naturally gluten-free. In Amsterdam, the donuts are handmade daily and fried in rice oil, without preservatives or colorants. The texture is different from what you are used to: less fluffy, more chewy, with varieties such as old fashioned or yeast-raised in flavors such as matcha, black sesame, and pistachio. The quiet, wood-dominated shop on Overtoom feels like a piece of the Japanese countryside in the city, where attention to food and the environment is central.
