What the owners will miss

What makes this home special is the rare combination of tranquility, light, and space, right in the heart of the city. Despite its central location, it is remarkably serene here. The high ceilings and layout ensure that every room feels bright and pleasant, while the apartment’s size further enhances this sense of spaciousness. The historic character of the 1824 building, with the Venz factory in the background, combined with the high-quality renovation in 2023, gives the property its own unique identity.

The single-level layout, the elevator, and the unobstructed views of the canal, the greenery, and Alexanderplein make this home truly complete. The two balconies also add to the comfort of living here. Plus, there’s the convenience of always having parking right outside the door.

The various rooms in the house are connected by a constant flow of natural light, which lends the entire space a pleasant atmosphere. The living room, with its view of the canal, is a natural place to spend time, while the kitchen also plays a central role in daily life thanks to its layout and ease of use.

The Plantage neighborhood is characterized by a unique balance of vibrancy, location, and tranquility. It is easily accessible by car, bicycle, and public transportation, yet the street itself is free from the hustle and bustle of trams, tourists, and shops. The historic surroundings—including the Muiderpoort, the Artis Aquarium, and the Wereld Museum nearby—lend the neighborhood a historic character.

What we will miss most is the peace and quiet and the spacious layout of the house, combined with the view and its ideal location in the city. The kitchen, which is a pleasure to use, and the good relationships with the neighbors and nearby restaurants—including Buurtcafe de Tros, Cafe Wu, and Entrepot—make this a place where we have truly enjoyed living.

Frank's Smokehouse

Frank's smokehouse has been located in Amsterdam for more than twenty years, still in the same place where the first real store was opened on the Wittenburgergracht. As early as 1984, Frank learned to smoke trout in Sweden and was thus captivated by the simple primal form of preservation. When he continued this in his Rear garden in Amsterdam, friends first became his customers and grew into an established smokehouse. If you walk past it, you can already smell the scent of artisanal smoked fish and meat outside.
