We really enjoyed living here. What we found perhaps most remarkable is that it’s right in the heart of Amsterdam, yet feels so peaceful. When you stand in front of the house, you have no idea how much light, space, and outdoor living it offers.
Every season felt wonderful here. In the summer, we moved almost effortlessly between indoors and outdoors. Coffee on the patio downstairs in the morning, then later a book or a glass of wine together in the rooftop garden, where it’s surprisingly quiet for being right in the middle of the city. What we always loved was that, despite all the light and the skylight, the house stays pleasantly cool on hot days. Doors open, long evenings outside. There’s something very relaxing about this place.
In winter, the atmosphere changes completely. That’s when we’d light the fireplace and often spend long evenings at the table with friends or family. Christmas dinners that went on late into the night, one more glass of wine, children who were simply part of the warm, cozy atmosphere in the large living room. The house naturally brings people together and has a certain calmness about it that makes everyone feel at ease here right away.
Another thing we always loved was the neighborhood. Through the school, it’s easy to get to know people, and there’s a real sense of community. After dropping the kids off, we’d stop for coffee at Bordeaux, or the kids would spontaneously ring the doorbell to play outside or head over to the schoolyard. It always felt free and familiar here.
And while it might sound practical, we really appreciated just how nice it is to come home and drive your car right inside. No need to search for a spot; you can safely park your bike inside and charge it. It brings so much convenience and peace of mind every day.
For us, this was above all a home where life just felt natural and pleasant. Bright, peaceful, and relaxed, right in the heart of the city.
