This is the house where I was born, where I grew up as a child, and where I later returned as an adult to become a mother myself.
My brothers also grew up here, and my mother continued to live here until the end of her life.
As a child, the large and bright living room seemed like a ballroom to me, and it is still ideal for celebrating the holidays in style or entertaining lots of friends. Thanks to the many large bedrooms always easily bedrooms people stay with us, so it was always a 'full house' at our place.
My mother thoroughly enjoyed the sun shining into the living room. She read her books there, played the piano, and received her visitors. Personally, I liked the upstairs room with its own kitchenette and shower best. The wooden floor and beautiful windows with authentic glass panes give the room a warm and elegant atmosphere. But actually, the whole house is full of beautiful authentic details, from the granite kitchen floor to the built-in china cabinet and the elegant banisters.
In summer, you can look Roof terrace over Amsterdam and the Rijksmuseum from the Roof terrace , and on New Year's Eve, you can watch all the fireworks.
The location is ideal because you are so close to everything that makes Amsterdam special in terms of culture, shopping, and food: the Albert Cuyp Market, the Concertgebouw, the Museumplein, the Vondelpark, the Leidseplein, the P.C. Hooftstraat, etc. My personal favorites are the Italian delicatessen Renzo's on Van Baerlestraat, the Martyrium bookstore, and the Surinamese restaurant Albina on Albert Cuypstraat. Everything is less than a 5-minute walk away. I won't find that anywhere else anytime soon.
