WHAT THE OWNERS WILL MISS
After selling our oversized house elsewhere in the Apollo neighborhood, we were determined to live on Minervalaan, because it is the most beautiful street in the Apollo neighborhood. Green, quiet, and with beautiful monumental architecture. We had to wait a long time to find the right apartment, but we finally succeeded. We had the apartment completely renovated under the supervision of an architect. Obtaining the right permits took a lot of energy, but it was more than worth the effort.
The deciding factor in our choice was the extra-large east-facing balcony, where we can enjoy coffee and lunch in the sun almost all year round, because the wind almost always comes from the west. It is wonderfully sheltered and, in the increasingly warm summers, a delight to relax in the shade in the late afternoon and evening.
We wanted a ground floor apartment with the atmosphere of a large luxury hotel suite. Together with the soothing view of the greenery of Minervalaan and the gardens behind it, it seems like an oasis of greenery and tranquility in the busy city.
In addition, there is ample parking space in front of the door, even for second cars, for which you can still obtain Immediately in this neighborhood.
What we will miss most about our apartment is the beautiful light in the kitchen and living room, where there is still plenty of light even on dark winter days. We will also miss our sun-drenched east-facing bathroom, where it is wonderful to wake up, and our sports/work room in the attic, which we enjoyed immensely during the pandemic. And still do...
We will also miss the long winter evenings by the cozy fireplace and our dining table and reading corner overlooking Minervalaan. We will also miss the Apollo neighborhood, where everything is close by: Beethovenstraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, Concertgebouw, all the top museums, the wonderful food stores on Olympiaplein, nice terraces, excellent restaurants, Vondelpark, Beatrixpark, and not to forget the Zuidas.
It is with a heavy heart that we are leaving the Apollo neighborhood to spend the next phase of our lives on the coast, where one of us grew up and where we have been offered an opportunity we couldn't refuse. Fortunately, it's only a half-hour drive from the Apollo neighborhood...
