HAUT 1 P2
This unique apartment is part of the iconic and inspiring HAUT building.
HAUT is not only the tallest wooden residential tower in the Netherlands, but also a gateway to the city and an enrichment of the Amsterdam skyline. Conversely, HAUT allows residents to fully enjoy Amsterdam, thanks to high ceilings of approximately 2.85 meters, large floor-to-ceiling windows, and spacious outdoor areas. With glass facades over 10 meters wide, HAUT offers an unparalleled view of the city. Nowhere else in the world has such transparency been combined with wood. HAUT demonstrates that innovative and sustainable construction goes hand in hand with high-quality architecture, without compromising on luxury and living comfort. Moreover, HAUT is designed on a small scale: each floor has only two or three apartments.

Design vision

HAUT is a striking landmark in Amsterdam and stands for high-quality architecture and sophisticated living. The building demonstrates that construction using a wooden structural framework is possible at the highest international level – Do Janne Vermeulen, Team V Architectuur.

Sustainable Innovation
HAUT is constructed with a high percentage of wood, which stores approximately 2,500 tons of CO₂. Combined with solar panels and reusable materials, this results in a significantly reduced environmental impact.
The building has achieved the highest sustainability rating, BREEAM Outstanding, and, thanks to the combination of wood and concrete, meets all fire safety requirements.

What the owners will miss

We were immediately excited when HAUT was first announced in 2018. What a beautiful building in a fantastic location. It didn’t take us long to make up our minds.
We chose a west-facing apartment with an unobstructed view of the Amstel.
We lived in Bloemendaal and owned an estate in Italy, where we stayed for several months each year.
Our plan was, after Anton’s retirement, to enjoy the Italian outdoor life more and combine that with an apartment in Amsterdam. “The best of both worlds.”
The building’s international appeal, its location on the Amstel, an ideal position relative to public transportation and major roads, a lively neighborhood with various restaurants right next door, sports facilities, and the popular Rivierenbuurt with great shops within walking distance—this was exactly what we were looking for.
We quickly found a buyer for our house in Bloemendaal and decided to stay in Italy until HAUT was completed.
There, we had plenty of time to focus on the finishing touches and interior design of our apartment.
In Italy, we have 25 years of experience in design and interior decoration, so we felt it was a logical step to hire our Italian craftsmen.
That’s why everything you see in the apartment is Italian design. The floor tiles, the (tiled) walls, the cabinets, the kitchen, the bathroom, and the furniture. We bought everything in Rome and had our craftsmen install it. A fantastic project.

“We absolutely love our apartment, but after years of traveling back and forth, we’ve decided to settle down in one place and move to Italy.
Of course, we hope the new owners will enjoy the apartment just as much as we have—the beautiful building, the wonderful neighbors, and the vibrant neighborhood.”

Café Remouillage

"Complex simplicity, is our way of less is more" is stated on the website of this hidden gem. The word café is somewhat misleading. Jonathan Sparber (Toscanini, Vermeer, Entrepot, among others) says: 'I call it a café because I want people to be able to drop in spontaneously for a bite to eat.' Jonathan cooks everything from the animal; nothing is thrown away. The wine list, with a fine selection of producers, is mainly organic.

Susy's Café

Café Susy was founded by Kick van Doorn and Nicole Lieuw, who previously opened the successful Yusu and wanted to show their love for authentic flavors once again with Susy. The name playfully refers to Yusu, but the mission is serious: an all-day café with a menu that doesn't follow trends but remains faithful to traditional Brazilian-Surinamese dishes. The kitchen focuses on familiar flavors such as Surinamese chicken satay, bami with long beans, and escondidinho with chicken, cassava purée, and cheese from the oven. Despite the trendy interior with lots of steel and clean lines, the kitchen remains deliberately unpolished and pure. The atmosphere is lively and accessible, a place where you can just as easily drop in for coffee as for a hearty, home-cooked meal.

La Bottega by Chiara's Food

"From good people to good people" is the motto of Chiara and her family. Chiara selects the most exceptional and authentic producers in Italy for her delicatessen shop. 'Most of our suppliers work in their family businesses; while preserving tradition, they have learned to scale their workload and evolve their methods to keep up with the times. All their ingredients are sourced locally from the region in which they are based, which in turn supports the local farmers from whom they purchase.' Workshops and tastings are organized regularly.

De Wit Butcher Shop

Slagerij de Wit has been a household name in Watergraafsmeer for over 35 years. As one of the few butchers in Amsterdam that slaughters its own meat, Slagerij de Wit is known for its quality, sausage-making, and culinary expertise. The meat is purchased Immediately the farmer, including local cows and Zuiderzee pigs. To ensure the quality of the products, an old-fashioned but sustainable way of working is maintained. Slagerij de Wit has been awarded for its ox sausage, which is a very tasty sandwich, but their homemade meatball sandwich is also highly recommended.

Olives & More

The owners tasted delicious olives in many countries, but back in Amsterdam, they could hardly find them. That's why they now import directly from the farmer. It started with a few wooden barrels full of olives in a baker's cargo bike at a farmers market in Amsterdam. Olives & More now imports dozens of types of olives and olive oil from Italy, France, Spain, Greece and Portugal.

Thrift store 't Hartje

For all the secondhand items you can imagine. And perhaps even an item that suddenly turns out to be very valuable... 't Hartje has also grown into a service point for the Dynamo welfare organization and thus a social center. Creative local residents hold exhibitions, give workshops, and sell their work, from scarves to paintings.
