Neighborhood Guide
The Jordaan was originally a typical working-class neighborhood, home to many artisans and small businesses. Many old garages and shops have been converted into living spaces. There are also many narrow streets with narrow houses. The canals are named after flowers. It is a pleasant neighborhood to live in, with a fascinating piece of history. This lively neighborhood has a very rich and diverse range of amenities, such as the Nine Streets, many galleries, coffee bars, cafes, restaurants, and various supermarkets. On every corner, you can find a refined or unique shop. The mix of craftsmanship and trendy hotspots makes the neighborhood so popular. There are several markets. Every Saturday, the Lindengracht and the Noordermarkt come to life with a lively organic market. On Monday mornings, there is the famous fabric market in the Westerstraat. The neighborhood also has some nice playgrounds, such as the hidden playground on the Slootstraat. The Noorderspeeltuin and the one on Tweede Looiersdwarsstraat are also favorites. This beloved neighborhood offers a good selection of elementary schools, such as the Theo Thijssenschool, the 14de Montessorischool, and De Burght.

De Goudsbloem
As an agency, we assist with the sale of a wide range of properties. As a real estate agent, this variety is very challenging and contributes to the picture you get of the overall housing market in Amsterdam. Personally, I have a soft spot for the Jordaan, where I worked for a long time at another agency. This has given me a better understanding and appreciation of the neighborhood. The neighborhood has a very pleasant dynamic and good amenities. Haarlemmerstraat, Westerstraat, and numerous side streets offer a diversity of shops, specialty stores, and caterers. There are also several good restaurants and cozy cafés in the neighborhood. The building originally dates from 1890, but was demolished and rebuilt in 1934. Over time, various renovations were carried out on the shell of the building. First, the foundation was repaired in 1996, followed by the installation of two dormer windows on the attic floor in 2008, and the roof conservatories in 2021. The building itself has a characteristic stepped gable, an architectural feature that was used for both functional and decorative purposes at the time. These facades, often built with red bricks, exude the charm and craftsmanship of the Dutch Renaissance. The hoisting beam and decorative anchors on the facade are a characteristic element. These wrought-iron constructions of the decorative anchors were used to reinforce the walls, but at the same time they contribute to the aesthetic appearance of the building. The symmetrical windows with white-framed window frames and the subtle use of yellow accents in the bricks add a refined harmony to the whole. This type of facade is an authentic representation of the practical and stylish architecture that has made Amsterdam famous worldwide. It tells the story of a city that not only had to build functionally, but also had an eye for elegance and Sustainability.
The living room is located at the front of the house and offers a nice view of the cozy street. Thanks to the large windows at both the front and rear, there is plenty of natural light, giving the living room a bright and pleasant atmosphere. There is enough space for both a sitting and dining area. The open kitchen with cooking island is located in the middle of the house, with enough space at the rear for the dining area. The kitchen is functional and equipped with built-in appliances, including a fridge/freezer, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, gas hob, and extractor hood. The permit for the balcony has already been granted.
The apartment has a total of two bedrooms, with the possibility of creating a third bedroom. On the fourth floor, there are two spacious bedrooms, with the master bedroom located at the rear. This bedroom is perfect for a double bed and also has a storage cupboard. The second bedroom also has enough space for a double bed and a wardrobe. The bathroom is accessible from the hall and is equipped with a walk-in shower, toilet, double sink with cabinet, and an electric towel radiator.

Four years ago, we found this magical house in the Jordaan neighborhood, and from the very first moment, we knew: this is it. An oasis of calm in the middle of a lively neighborhood. What Immediately us was the light: it flows in from all four directions and constantly offers new views. Whether we look out over the characteristic Jordaan rooftops, the stately Noorderkerk, the Posthoornkerk, or the A'DAM Tower in the distance, it never gets boring. Our house is fortunate to have unobstructed views on all sides. The icing on the cake is the future construction of the balcony, which we will unfortunately miss. As running enthusiasts, we will miss the proximity of Westerpark; it is only 800 meters from the front door to the entrance. In this unique location, the city feels close by, but at the same time wonderfully far away. We have enjoyed everything that makes this house so special. The soft patter of rain on the sloping roof, lulling us to sleep. The atmosphere of the neighborhood, where we are Immediately immersed Immediately the bustling life of the Jordaan district. With favorite spots such as Café Thijssen, De Linden, and Toscanini literally around the corner, and the Noordermarkt on Saturdays as a regular ritual, we have always thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here. It is a house and a neighborhood that we have taken into our hearts. Moving was not actually planned at all. We are incredibly happy in our home. But then an unexpected opportunity came along: a corner house in an old telephone exchange, which we immediately fell in love with. And so, with a heavy heart, we decided to let go of this special house. It is full of beautiful memories, and we hope that the new residents will enjoy this unique place as much as we have.
