The surroundings
Brouwersgracht is located at the beginning of Singel, Heren-, Keizers- and Prinsengracht. This part is dynamic and, together with Herenmarkt, forms one of the most beautiful parts of the canal belt.

The historic Brouwersgracht is a beautiful central location in a lively part of the city center. Surrounded by the Jordaan, Haarlemmerdijk, Dam Square, and Central Station, there is always something to do here. Trendy shops, cozy cafés, and restaurants such as Toscanini, Duende, Café Winkel 43, Vrouw met de baard, and Café Thijssen. The Noordermarkt is just around the corner, with an organic market on Mondays and Saturdays. Westerpark and adjacent nature reserves are also nearby. Groceries can be purchased within walking distance at Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Marqt, and various small specialty shops on Herenstraat, Haarlemmerdijk, and Haarlemmerstraat.
In 2007, Brouwersgracht was voted the most beautiful "street" in Amsterdam by readers of Het Parool from 150 nominations, and with good reason.

De Brouwersgracht offers the perfect balance between peaceful living and the bustle of Amsterdam's city center.

The historical context is still palpable and visible. Starting in 1612, the canal belt was dug southward from Brouwersgracht. Since 1594, the canal has been named after the many beer breweries that were located in this neighborhood in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Since 1782, the last Amsterdam distillery of gin and liqueurs has been located on Brouwersgracht near Driehoekstraat: De Ooievaar. Most of the warehouses, built for the storage of goods, have been converted into residential houses.

For primary education, OBS De Burght is within walking distance at Herengracht 34. The Theo Thijssen School and 14e Montessorie in the Jordaan are also within walking distance.

Accessibility
A central location with multiple routes in and out of the city, making it easy to reach by car. Amsterdam North, West, and East, as well as the Ring, are easily accessible via the rear of Central Station and along the IJ. Equally important is that Central Station is within walking distance, serving as a hub for the metro, bus lines, and (international) train connections.

Bistrot neuf

Bistrot Neuf is a cozy bistro with a modern interior in the middle of lively Amsterdam. It was once rightly proclaimed the best French establishment in Amsterdam, and that is understandable. The permanent menu is full of French classics such as bouillabaisse, snails and steak tartare. As one of the few in Amsterdam, warm lunch is also served here, but you can also dine here in a cozy and uncomplicated Parisian style with a good glass of wine.

De Belhamel

This restaurant distinguishes itself in terms of both location and interior. The restaurant and the bar (a real speakeasy) both have a romantic Parisian Art Nouveau atmosphere. French-inspired classics enhance this unique identity with tarte tatin of shallots, silver onions, blue cheese and mustard caramel or pain perdu of brioche with yogurt-orange ice cream. In the summer you can sit on the terrace on the Brouwersgracht.

Café de Vrouw met de Baard

De Vrouw met de Baard - the name alone is reason enough to pop in here sometime. Entirely with its own merchandise, its own sambal and soul cookbook and playlist, the eatery in the center is making its mark on the Indonesian/Moluccan cuisine. Even though the Rendang is the dish for which people come from miles around, the vegetarian alternatives with jackfruit and eggplant are also more than worth it. The living room-like atmosphere gives the whole a real family feeling, which according to the owners themselves is exactly the purpose of soul and comfort food!

At the helm is Mexican head chef Jeniffer Calderon, who creates playful yet refined cuisine with ceviches, tacos, and shareable bites. Her dishes combine fresh acids, heat, and texture, inspired by modern Mexican food culture. The cocktail menu reinforces that energy, with the famous 'taptails' developed by Belgian mixologist Paul Morel.

Arca

Portuguese comfort food elevated to a refined level and often given extra depth with an Asian touch. Baby squid are given extra bite in a delicious tempura batter, sprinkled with sea salt and ground seaweed, and served with fresh and light coriander mayonnaise. Bacalhau à brás, or salted cod, is mixed with thinly cut fries, egg yolk, parsley, and black olives, giving it a refined flavor lift and delightful texture, similar to steak tartare."

Max restaurant

Max, born in Jakarta, learned the basics from his mother, who was a cook. Don't expect Indonesian nostalgia, but his own, light-footed interpretation of Indonesian cuisine. The interior is homely but not fussy. MAX feels like a tribute to the chef's family history, but also as a restaurant that is fully in the here and now.

Linguini

Simplicity is essential in Italian cuisine: as long as the ingredients are good, you don't need much. “Less is more”. They understand that well at Linguini in the Herenstraat. The interior exudes the Italian dolce vita feeling: attractive old tiles and a beautiful long sofa as an eye-catcher: Linguini is a cozy and warm trattoria, with attention to detail. The menu is small and mainly consists of pasta. You can order this either in a small portion (for one person), or in Italian style in a large pan for the ‘famiglia’. So, pasta, pasta, pasta. All prepared with love and passion by the Italian ‘pasta maestro’ named Lorenzo Isidoro.

A combination of a brown cafe and a restaurant. That was the starting point of Natalie Kouwen and Tim Werners. The label, Atelier Sukha, uses only the purest, most natural materials such as wool, linen, cotton, clay, and cashmere. These pure materials are incorporated into all the beautiful products the store offers: a range from women's clothing to interior design and art objects.
