Design Vision
In 2021, VORM's design, in collaboration with OZ Architects, was built and named 'BOLD'. The name of the building refers to the typographical emphasis in which bold letterforms contrast with the surrounding text. BOLD also stands for guts and courage, for individuality, for speaking out about what you stand for, and for a willingness to take risks. BOLD does this with its facade of solar panels, a true statement in the neighborhood. Characteristic of BOLD's design is its technical appearance combined with the warmth of wooden alcoves with transparent parapets, which form the outdoor spaces. The wooden elements are also visible from below, i.e. at street level. The entire roof surface of the building was not large enough to generate sufficient energy for the building's needs. That is why solar panels have also been attached to the façade. These solar panels are not affixed, but form the façade itself, so they are not an addition, but an integral part of the design. The deep eaves provide relief and shadow effects. Contrasting materials and the rhythm of the façade contribute to lively color shades that change depending on the sun, the time of day, and the angle from which they are viewed.

Sustainability
Sustainability was Sustainability to the design of BOLD. The goal was to achieve a negative EPC of -0.1209, resulting in an A+++ energy label, a sustainability discount on your mortgage, and low operating costs. All this has been achieved behind the façade of BOLD, which conceals an ingenious and energy-efficient climate control system. In addition to the sun, heat and cold from the ground via heat pumps (thermal energy storage) provide hot tap water and cooling in the apartments. Even the heat from the shower water is utilized. In addition, heat is recovered from the ventilation air using heat recovery units (HRU). As mentioned earlier, solar panels are integrated into the facades, windows, and roof. These supply power to the apartments and central facilities. All equipment for heating, cooling, ventilation, tap water, and sustainable electricity is leased from NextNRG for approximately €229.66 per month (including maintenance).

Living and cooking
"Living in a living painting" could be the slogan for this home. The large windows in the living room, which are floor-to-ceiling and almost 5.5 meters wide, offer a beautiful view of the city center. Due to the changing seasons and the view over the IJ, the view is different every day. The view from the 21st floor will never get boring. It is a very pleasant space to stay in. The sleek plastered ceilings and the luxurious Poggenpohl kitchen complete the atmosphere in the apartment. Luxury and experience come together here. The kitchen with cooking island is equipped with various built-in appliances, such as a Bora hob, dishwasher, Quooker, Miele steam oven, and fridge/freezer combination. The entire house has high-quality laminate flooring in a herringbone pattern. The spacious entrance hall provides access to the guest toilet, the internal storage room, the second (smaller) bathroom, and the master bedroom. The living room provides access to the other two bedrooms.

Comfort
The building consists of 151 apartments spread over 24 floors, ranging from approximately 49 to 167 m², and a number of larger penthouses. Luxury, comfort, and amenities are the central themes at BOLD. The luxury of BOLD is Immediately upon entering, with an attractive wall featuring mailboxes, Bringme boxes, and a caretaker. However, BOLD offers even more comfort to make life more enjoyable. For example, the third to fifth floors feature a professional gym with sauna and shower rooms, and a cinema/theater room with a sliding grandstand and kitchenette. In addition, there are separate rooms with climate-controlled cabinets for wines that can be served, and three luxuriously equipped guest rooms are Available.

Treasure Depot

Treasure Depot on Van der Pekstraat is the place to go for genuine secondhand treasures. After 15 years of selling at various markets, owners Emmanuelle and Frank decided it was time to open a real store. The ceiling is covered with the most beautiful retro lamps, but they have much more: jewelry, furniture, sunglasses, and other cool stuff. Feast your eyes and, if you're lucky, take home a new gadget or a beautiful lamp.
