Lievana keeps an eye on everything and everyone
‘When people see a property, they’re interested in, they don’t want to hang around,’ says front desk assistant Lievana. She and her three colleagues from the front office team are the first point of contact for all requests for a viewing. ‘I try to plan an appointment for the estate agent and client straight away, so that the client doesn’t have to wait,’ she tells cheerfully.
To her, the positive energy at Broersma and the sincere interest shown by her colleagues are essential elements of her job, which make her feel at home. Every day, she travels from Zaanstreek to the heart of Amsterdam, where she cuts through to Broersma from Valeriusplein. She loves the vibrancy of the city. ‘It’s lively wherever you go,’ explains Lievana, who was born and bred in Amsterdam but moved to Purmerend when she was 24.
Van Bossestraat in Amsterdam West has a special place in Marion’s heart. ‘When I was growing up there, my grandma lived round the corner in Van Rappardstraat. Our balconies backed on to each other,’ she remembers. ‘My grandma used to throw sweets down from her balcony, but she’d tie a piece of string to them, so they wouldn’t land in the garden of the ground-floor neighbours. Fond memories.’
Her job at Broersma isn’t the only reason Marion likes coming to Amsterdam; she also comes for De Nachtwacht. She’s referring to a restaurant on Thorbeckeplein, where according to her, they serve the best satay in the city. ‘It comes on a beautifully arranged, very full, wooden platter. That, along with the relaxed atmosphere, is why I keep going back.’
