A monumental canal house
It is hard to believe that Herengracht 414, a monumental canal house in one of Amsterdam's most prestigious locations, had been available for rent for quite some time. A private owner had purchased the property to live there himself, but had since settled elsewhere. On behalf of the owner, Nick de Sonnaville turned to Broersma for advice. We advised him to implement a number of improvements to turn it into a contemporary office space.
The end result is breathtaking.
“A period room overlooking the garden. A glass atrium. Classic ornaments. There was no shortage of historical details in this pre-war tailor's shop,” says Merijn Hartog of Broersma Werken. The trick was to retain the reference to the period while modernizing it at the same time. With this insight, a new tenant was quickly found. Public Audio, a creative production studio where everything revolves around the craft of creativity, was the perfect match. In consultation with the owner, they thoroughly renovated the building to suit their unique vision of craftsmanship. The end result is breathtaking.
