Building

The office space was built in 1847 in a 19th-century style characteristic of Wittenburg's development during that period. The façade is symmetrical in design, with tall windows and understated details that reflect the commercial and artisanal functions that this area fulfilled at the time. The building is part of the historic urban expansion on the Eastern Islands, where living and working have gone hand in hand since the 17th century.

Over the years, the building has been modified and modernized several times, while retaining its original character. Recently, the office building has been completely renovated, preserving original elements such as the high ceilings and classic facade. At the same time, contemporary amenities have been added to optimize comfort and functionality for office use.

Outdoor space

The approximately 76 m² city garden can be accessed from the basement and via the Roof terrace the main floor; in addition, the office space has a second Roof terrace the second floor and a balcony on the first floor.

Frank's Smokehouse

Frank's smokehouse has been located in Amsterdam for more than twenty years, still in the same place where the first real store was opened on the Wittenburgergracht. As early as 1984, Frank learned to smoke trout in Sweden and was thus captivated by the simple primal form of preservation. When he continued this in his Rear garden in Amsterdam, friends first became his customers and grew into an established smokehouse. If you walk past it, you can already smell the scent of artisanal smoked fish and meat outside.

Borrl Kitchen Deli

The Borrl Kitchen team now also has Borrl Kitchen Deli where you can get restaurant-quality snacks, bread and other delicacies. Also nice: they also have a good Borrl Box, all kinds of different snacks for home. But you can also just buy all these delicacies separately. The homemade hummus is fantastic, but the cheese and wine selection is also great. Pick up or delivered to your door, you have to taste Borrl once!

Maritime Museum

Discover the shipping and maritime history of the Netherlands in the Maritime Museum. The museum is located in the water on the Oosterdok; this building was formerly used as a warehouse for the storage of ship equipment and cannons when Amsterdam was the largest port in the world. The collection includes paintings, ship models, maps, and weapons. It is the second largest maritime museum in the world. In the water in front of the museum is a replica of the VOC ship 'Amsterdam'. In the barrel vaults under the courtyard, thousands of liters of water used to be stored to provide the ship's songs with water en route.

Artis

Artis is the oldest zoo in the Netherlands, founded in 1838 with the aim of bringing nature closer to people. It started small as a garden with a pond and a winter garden, and over the years more and more buildings, animals and trees were added. Today, there are more than 900 different animal species to admire, including some special species such as the algazelles, the white-tailed gnus and the margay. You can easily spend a whole day in Artis. Imagine yourself in a tropical climate, admire special fish species and laugh at the monkeys on the monkey rock.

Restaurant Fyr

Executive Chef and owner Elian Muller opened Fyr on Czaar Peterstraat after years of experience at restaurant Vinkeles, where he further refined his craft. His vision for Fyr is inspired by the four elements—water, earth, air, and fire—which together form the basis of the seasonal dishes. Muller works extensively with local products and techniques such as wood-fired cooking, symbolized by the large wood-fired oven in the kitchen. The menus are carefully constructed and reflect his love of robust flavors and elegant presentation. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with a modern interior.

Brouwerij 't IJ

Brouwerij 't IJ is a brewery located in an old bathhouse and is easy to recognize because it is located next to the De Gooyer windmill. They make specialty beers and these are simply made from Amsterdam tap water. It once started as a small-scale artisanal brewery with two types of beer, but in the meantime the brand has also gained fame outside Amsterdam and the range has expanded considerably. For example, taste the well-known 'natte' (wet), 'zatte' (drunk) and IJwit or try one of the seasonal beers; such as 'PaasIJ' (EasterIJ) or 'IJndejaars' (End of Year IJ). The brewery also has a tasting room and a large sunny terrace with a jetty.

Chef and co-owner Tijs Jeurissen and the two other owners, Pieter Smits (also from Rijsel) and Bob Kaasenbrood, have created a timeless establishment with excellent food and an equally excellent, idiosyncratic wine list, composed exclusively of German wines. The wines are also available For Sale the (online) store Wijnkameel. The service is excellent, just like at its sister restaurant Rijsel.
