History
The Oranjewerf is located at the beginning of Nieuwendam in Amsterdam North. Immediately is the (former) Gembo site, now known as the Noord 9 business park. The commercial building at Nieuwendammerdijk 536 B-F, For Sale is part of this site. The name of this site derives from a former factory that produced water glass, a raw material used in the sulfuric acid production of neighboring company Ketjen.
The industrial building was constructed in 1954 as a former storage warehouse for the Gembo water glass factory. The warehouse had a crane track with supports in the long walls and in the middle of the hall. The storage warehouse was used to store sand and soda. The sand and soda were delivered by cargo ship and brought into the building via the rear by crane. In the 1980s, the Gembo factory closed, and various types of small businesses appeared on the site. The current users are very diverse: garage companies, painting companies, stonemasons, coffee roasters, and diving companies.
In 2002, the current owner carried out extensive renovations to the former factory, adding a floor to the warehouse and four floors to the former storage tower. In recent years, the former factory space has been used as a car garage, storage space, and office/showroom space.

Layout
The red brick factory building is divided into various commercial spaces. Garagebedrijf Oost is located on the ground floor (left), and The Big Lab Sports Center is located on the ground floor on the right (behind the middle overhead door). On the far right, behind the overhead door, there is a freight elevator that connects to the large commercial space on the first floor. This space is unique due to its impressive ceiling height of 6.3 meters, the roof construction with windows at the top, and the steel and glass partition walls at the rear of the space. The high office tower is accessible via its own entrance. The staircase leads to the office spaces located in the high office tower, which offer a beautiful view of the IJ and Amsterdam North.
Outdoor area
The (enclosed) outdoor area is accessible via a gate on the Nieuwendammerdijk side. The area is approximately 265 m² in size. Two overhead doors provide access to the commercial building itself. In addition, the freight elevator is accessible from the outdoor area. The area is suitable for loading and unloading or for parking several cars.
At the rear of the commercial building is an outdoor area measuring approximately 85 m² with a quay of almost 19 meters, located on open waterways with a direct connection to the IJ.
