HARBOR VIEW WESTERDOK
As a real estate agency, we assist with the sale of a varied range of properties. Personally, I am constantly surprised by the tranquility that reigns on the Western Islands. At the same time, the hustle and bustle is never far away and the amenities are excellent. Haarlemmerstraat, Haarlemmerdijk, and various side streets offer a wide variety of shops, specialty stores, and caterers. If you can't find what you're looking for here, the Jordaan district may be the answer. There are also several good restaurants and cozy cafés in the neighborhood.
The apartment at Westerdoksdijk 609, which we are privileged to sell as an agency, is very well laid out and centrally located. Although the address may suggest a busier thoroughfare, that is precisely the surprise of this apartment. It is located on the quiet Westerdok side and offers an incredible view of the water. Upon entering the building, you experience the urban dynamism, while at the rear—where the apartment is located—you find pleasant tranquility.
If you are interested in learning more, I would like to invite you to come by for a visit. I would be happy to tell you more about the apartment. Perhaps we will see each other soon.

Design vision

The urban development plan for Westerdok in Amsterdam focuses on the redevelopment of old port areas into vibrant living and working spaces. The plan combines mixed functions, architectural diversity, and Sustainability, with a strong focus on the integration of water and public space. This area is designed for urban densification and offers modern amenities within a historical context.
Westerkaap Noord I was realized by coordinating architect AWG Architecten in collaboration with Baneke van der Hoeven. The strip at the tip of the island is the second phase in the development of Noord I.
Unlike the other sub-plans, Noord I has no inner courtyards, but a partially covered, spacious inner street. AWG Architecten considers architecture to be 'the creation of intelligent ruins' and therefore sought a timeless design language and robust materials. In addition, the aim was to make the 'genius loci' of the location tangible in the design.
The building is horizontally and archetypically articulated. The façade has been designed to be as calm as possible: windows and doors form a repetitive rhythm of openings in the walls. The complex is located Immediately the waterfront and offers modern apartments with large windows and views of the Westerdok and the IJ. The building also incorporates energy-efficient technologies and commercial spaces on the ground floor, contributing to the liveliness of the neighborhood. This project the successful transformation of historic marshalling yards and port areas into modern, comfortable residential areas.

The Ravestijn Gallery

The Ravestijn Gallery was founded in Amsterdam in 2012 by Jasper Bode and Narda Van 't Veer with a focus on exploratory and provocative approaches to contemporary photography. And they have succeeded in this. The gallery represents various national and international experimental artists who demonstrate the power of photography in all kinds of different ways. This modern approach to contemporary photography makes the exhibitions at De Ravestijn Gallery very interesting. But, in addition, the artworks are also a great aesthetic pleasure to look at and perhaps even a good source of inspiration for decorating a new home?

The Movies

The Movies cinema has been around since 1912. It is often called the oldest cinema in Amsterdam, but formally that is the Uitkijk cinema, which registered a year earlier. In its early years, the cinema was used as a small-scale neighborhood cinema, and only after the Second World War were films shown to a larger audience. Today, it is one of the most popular arthouse cinemas in Amsterdam. Many visitors also come to The Movies to admire the historic interior. The cinema is located in a 17th-century building on the Haarlemmerdijk and the original art-deco interior has been well preserved. A visit to this cinema feels like a journey through time.

Boon & de Koot

Following the success of Zoldering, chef Thomas Bron, wine importer Joost Clarijs, and sommeliers Job Seuren and Wout Jans opened Boon & de Koot, an accessible wine bar in the Zeeheldenbuurt neighborhood, without compromising on quality. The menu starts with hearty snacks such as oeuf mayo with roasted garlic and lovage, cleverly served so you can eat it in one bite. This is followed by refined starters such as raw sea bass with beurre noisette and calamansi or a coarse steak tartare with radicchio and anchovies. The real showstopper is the dish of roasted peas with tomatillo, olive, and egg yolk, a perfect interplay of smoke, freshness, and creaminess. Inside, there is a French bistro atmosphere, while outside, the terrace with marble tables and burgundy chairs invites you to linger for another glass.

Entirely with its own merchandise, its own sambal and soul cookbook and playlist, the eatery in the center is making its mark on the Indonesian/Moluccan cuisine.
