Apartment of approximately 71 m², with beautiful views over the Amstel River. It features a living room with open kitchen and a bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The apartment is located on private land.

Guided tour
At the end of Prinsengracht, overlooking the Amstel, Amsterdam's rich history meets waterfront living. This charming apartment of approximately 71 m² is located on the third floor of a beautiful monumental canal house. The spacious and wide staircase, centrally located, adds grandeur and is easy to walk up.
The living room, located on the canal side, offers a unique view that invites you to enjoy it from the sofa. With a width of almost 6 meters on the water, this space not only provides a beautiful view but also an abundance of natural light. The layout offers various arrangement options, allowing you to create a dining area in several places or a nice place to relax. You can enjoy a cozy dinner or sit by the window with a cup of coffee while enjoying the beautiful view of the canal. A cozy wood-burning stove adds extra atmosphere, perfect for cold evenings at home.
The kitchen is subtly integrated behind a half wooden partition. This layout creates a spacious feeling while keeping the kitchen appliances discreet. The corner kitchen has a natural stone worktop and is equipped with various built-in appliances, including a 4-burner gas stove with oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher. A built-in display cabinet adds a beautiful piece of furniture to the whole.
The apartment has light wooden flooring with sturdy wide planks.

The spacious bedroom at the rear is equipped with a built-in bed for two people and offers ample storage space. There is also enough room for a wardrobe and a workspace. It would be very easy to create a second bedroom or a separate study; see the alternative floor plan.
The ensuite bathroom, with elegant rounded shapes and stained glass windows, features a bathtub that is also ideal for showering, and a washbasin with marble sink. There is also a separate toilet.
In the basement of the building there is a private storage room, which is divided into a storage area and a laundry room, including connections.

What the owner will miss
"Over the years, the apartment has been used in different ways by the whole family; by myself as a weekday residence during my projects in Amsterdam, as an exciting place for my children to stay during their high school years, and to participate in the nightlife during their student days."

Neighborhood guide
Located in the last section of Prinsengracht, between the Amstel and Utrechtsestraat and around the corner from Amstelveld. A highly regarded residential location for many. Architecture

In the17th century, the first Dutch architects returned from study trips to Italy. They were inspired by the formal language of classical antiquity and adapted it, with a sense of simplicity, to Dutch tastes and available building materials. The facades are reminiscent of temples, with columns, pilasters, moldings, and pediments, but the execution is more austere. More monumental. The classical ornaments were no longer spread across the entire facade, but limited to a few places.
Prinsengracht 858 is a national monument, a house with an early 18th-century facade and an upper floor and straight cornice from the second half of the 19th century. The door frame dates from the late 18th century. The facade of this national monument looks like a 'normal' canal house, but its entrance and staircase are spacious. A pleasant staircase in the middle of the building provides easy access to the third floor.

Oocker

Oocker is a new restobar (restaurant-bar) in Amsterdam. It was set up by Meyer Viol, Niels van der Werf (formerly at The Lobby, Gebr. Hartering, and Shiraz), and Stefano Orofino (formerly at Domenica). At Oocker, the food is just as important as the wine. The wine bar is located at the front, and the restaurant area, with its open kitchen, is at the back. Chef Stefano mainly cooks with vegetables. It is open from Thursday to Tuesday from 3 p.m. They do not take reservations, so feel free to drop in.

In an accessible setting (in the spirit of an Amsterdam café), the cuisine here is (now truly) Michelin-star quality. The kitchen serves casual dishes to share, and the now famous wine selection is divided into a menu of "affordable" wines and an extensive menu of 800 different bottles.  Zoldering is very popular, so book well in advance. You can also try walking in on the day itself for a glass of wine at the bar. The owners have now opened a wine shop (Lof, de wijnwinkel) and a second restaurant, Boon en de Koot.

Willet-Holthuysen House

The impressive Willet-Holthuysen House is located in the heart of Amsterdam. This double mansion on Herengracht houses numerous period rooms. The name of the house is derived from the couple who lived here at the end of the 19th century: Abraham Willet and Louisa Holthuysen. They collected a wealth of art and objects and had the interior designed according to their personal taste. Even at the time, this beautiful house was considered a tribute to a romantic past. The interior served as a means for the couple to share their taste and prosperity with others. The magnificent salons are decorated in the style of Louis XVI, and the garden is symmetrically laid out as a formal French garden. In these romantic period rooms, the Amsterdam Museum organizes exhibitions featuring work by contemporary artists and collectors.
