Neighborhood Guide Bos en Lommer, established in the 1920s and 1930s, is a neighborhood with a rich history. Well-known streets such as Willem de Zwijgerlaan, Admiraal de Ruijterweg, and Jan van Galenstraat form the backbone of this neighborhood. This architectural style, aimed at improving the living and working conditions of workers, is characterized by houses in (semi-open) building blocks and strips, which are still recognizable today.

Lupe

Pedro & Juan Mouneu, two brothers from Mexico City, missed the authentic Mexican flavor in Amsterdam. With Lupe, named after the Mexican patron saint, they bring a Mexican eatery to Amsterdam where authentic dishes and drinks come together. The brothers ran restaurant Los Pilones in the city center for 20 years, mainly catering to tourists. With Lupe, they want to offer a more local and neighborhood-oriented experience. The staff has a Mexican background, and guests can enjoy a menu of delicious snacks to share, such as enchiladas, tortillas with beans and spicy shrimp, and ceviche. The menu changes with the seasons. Lupe also offers weekend brunch dishes such as huevos rancheros and chilaquiles, which the owners say are ideal for soothing a hangover.

Café Restaurant Amsterdam

For steak, fruit de mer, or sticky toffee cake, Café Restaurant Amsterdam is always a good choice. This restaurant has been located in the old Machinepomp building on Watertorenplein since 1996. It has since become an integral part of Amsterdam's hospitality scene. The industrial look of the restaurant makes a big impression, but at the same time it has remained cozy. The food is good, and in the summer you can sit on the terrace by the water. It is also a great place for large groups to enjoy a long meal. You can also have a delicious lunch or just a cup of coffee with a newspaper. In any case, it is worth taking a look at this fantastic building.

Mossel & Gin

It is not difficult to guess what is on the menu at Mossel & Gin. This rock-solid concept has been running well for years and chef Josh Selter even got their famous Gin Mayo on the shelves of Albert Heijn. That is excellent, but for the total experience you really have to go to Mossel & Gin in the Westerpark. You can sit there in the summer with a view over the beautiful Westerpark and always dine for a long time and have cozy drinks.
