Breadwinner

Breadwinner is an Amsterdam bakery located in the city center. Breadwinner has a secret when it comes to making their sourdough bagels. In addition to the usual ingredients for the dough, they also add toppings such as jalapeño peppers and cheddar cheese. But the real secret lies in adding these ingredients to the dough itself, allowing the flavors to really permeate the bagel. The result is a delicious sourdough bagel that is both savory and spicy. Visit their shop to try the bagel for yourself.

Vindict wine

Vindict wine can be found on the edge of the Jordaan district on Elandsgracht. Because they not only love wine but also design and construction, they have given this beautiful place its own unique and sustainable design. Every part of the shop has had a previous life. For example, the floor is made of stone slabs from old brick factories, and the wines are presented in shoe cabinets from the Puma factory in the former Czechoslovakia. Every type of wine is available here: from five euros to a bottle of Dom Pérignon Champagne. All white, rosé, and sparkling wines are available chilled.

Banh Mi Ba My

The chef-owner learned the trade from her grandmother in Ho Chi Minh City and dreamed of owning her own restaurant her entire life. After emigrating to the Netherlands in 1993, she cooked for family and parties for years, until she decided to make that dream a reality in her own business. Together with her daughter, who often acts as an interpreter, she built a place that is now beloved within the Vietnamese community. The menu features classics such as homemade bánh mì, chả giò, bánh xèo, and noodle soups such as phở and bún bò huế, whose broth is sometimes left to simmer overnight. The atmosphere is warm and personal, a small restaurant where cooking by feel and hospitality are a given.

Also on the menu; Dashimaki tamago, a flavorful omelet with a deep, fine dashi flavor. A good selection of Sake is also available.

Stacks Diner

American homestyle cooking. A modern take on a classic American diner in Amsterdam. Executive chef and owner Kevin Kearney also works as a creative director in advertising. When he moved to Amsterdam in 2017 for his wife's job, he missed having a restaurant 'in the middle'. Having worked for well-known chefs in New York in the past, he decided to open this 'diner'. Now there is also a 'deli' and even 'merchandise'. Everything (except the 'merch') is made in-house.

Shojin cuisine is the main source of inspiration for Hikage's vegan dishes. The basis of Shojin Ryori consists of five colors, five flavors (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami), and five techniques (raw, boiled, grilled, fried, and steamed). They also serve a select collection of Japanese gins, including the award-winning Yuzu gin infused with spicy yuzu and Sakurao gin infused with Sakura (cherry blossom).

Wandu

Evandro Barbosa de Souza and his best friend Aldo Jesus Silva opened coffee shop Wandu in the center of Amsterdam. The name is a tribute to his grandmother, who called him 'Wandu', which means a coffee bean in African. From half past seven in the morning, Wandu offers local residents delicious Brazilian coffee, cappuccino, espresso Brasileirinho and pão de queijo; a Brazilian cheese bun. The men want to create a cozy place where people take time for themselves and relax. There is also praise for Wandu's charming atmosphere, a refreshing alternative to the Scandi aesthetic in Amsterdam cafes.

Cafecito

Cafecito is part of the Cafecito franchise, an Amsterdam-based coffee roastery that decided to open coffee shops to stimulate their own sales when sales to catering establishments stagnated during the pandemic. Cafecito already has three branches in Amsterdam and one in Rotterdam. The Nassaukade location is the newest addition, led by entrepreneur Chow, who previously owned two bubble tea shops. She now has her own Cafecito, where she employs professional baristas to prepare coffee, including the pride of the business: cold brew. Café Binnenvisser

Café Binnenvisser, located on Bilderdijkstraat in Amsterdam West, is a cozy neighborhood café. The menu here consists mainly of vegetables, but fish and meat are also available. The wine list, which mainly features natural wines, is very extensive, but the staff know which wine goes well with each dish. When the weather is nice, the windows are opened and the cozy interior spills out onto the street, which adds to the atmosphere. Highly recommended for an evening of fine dining.
