The invitation to visit was arranged by phone and postponed several times. The last attempt was successful, and my colleague and I visited the current owner. A creative, friendly, and striking person, which is also clearly reflected in the apartment. The interior, art, and way of living reflect his character. The apartment is a former retail space, with a large window offering views of Amsterdam and a serene garden that creates a special atmosphere. For many, it is a dream: not a standard apartment, but something unique. The location, close to the Amstel River and situated between De Pijp and Oost, is truly ideal. Now it is time for a new adventure beyond the country's borders, with a smaller home in Amsterdam.

Numbers 9 to 25 were built simultaneously, just after 1900, in 1906 to be precise. In the archives, they are referred to as "shop-houses designed for four families." In 1918, conservatories were added to the building and kitchens were installed, while the front remained a retail space. In 1980 Location were repaired Location steel tubular piles. A breakthrough was made between buildings 9 and 11, and the whole complex was used as commercial space. It was not until 2009 that the building was divided and converted into four residences. The building was also awarded the definitive quality classification of class I (the highest classification for existing buildings). The former commercial space became a garage for ambulances and was later converted into the residence it is today. This architectural style was popular during the reconstruction of Amsterdam in the late 19th century, and many residences neighborhoods such as De Pijp and Amsterdam-Oost display these characteristics.
