As a real estate agency, we assist with the sale of a wide range of properties. I myself really enjoy visiting Amsterdam-West, and can often be found there. I love the buzz in the neighborhood and the amenities are good. J.P. Heijestraat, Jan Evertsenstraat, Kinkerstraat, and Postjesweg, among others, offer a wide variety of shops, specialty stores, and caterers. There are also several good restaurants and cozy cafés in the neighborhood. The apartment at Cabotstraat 21 H, which we are selling on behalf of our office, is a very efficiently laid out ground floor apartment with a lovely garden. It is also very centrally located in Amsterdam-West, near three large parks: Rembrandtpark, Erasmuspark, and Vondelpark. At the front of the building, you can experience the urban dynamism with a Cruijff soccer field, and at the rear, you can enjoy peace and quiet. If you are interested, I would like to invite you to come and take a look. I will, of course, tell you more about the apartment then. Perhaps we will see you soon.

The Admiralenbuurt is the area between Admiralengracht, Erasmusgracht, Orteliuskade, and Postjeswetering. Several facades on the east side of Admiralengracht are also considered part of the neighborhood in terms of urban planning. The neighborhood was part of Plan West, the expansion plan that followed Plan Zuid. Plan West also included the Postjesbuurt (Westindische Buurt) and the Hoofddorppleinbuurt. The architects of this plan designed all the houses in the Amsterdam School style. The Amstel’s Bouw Vereeniging played an extremely important role in reviving private housing construction and as an advocate. One of the prominent members of the Vereeniging's board was J.A. Bangert. Bangert also built houses together with his brother. The building complex consisting of six plots, 19 residences two shop houses at Cabostraat 19 to 25 and Vasco da Gamastraat 46 and 48 was designed by J.A. Bangert. As mentioned earlier, the building at Cabotstraat 21 was constructed in the Amsterdam School architectural style. This style was popular in the Netherlands—especially in Amsterdam—from around 1910 to 1940. Characteristics of the Amsterdam School, which are also clearly evident in this building, are:
- Use of brick: The facade is entirely constructed of brick, with meticulous masonry work.
- Repetition and symmetry: The windows are symmetrical and arranged in a strict rhythm.
- Vertical accents: The downspouts and windows emphasize the vertical lines.
- Geometric shapes: Straight lines and block-like window shapes are typical.
- Subtle decoration: There is no excessive ornamentation, but attention to detail, for example in the decorative brickwork accents between the windows.
The building is therefore a fine example of early 20th-century urban housing, with the functional yet elegant appearance of the Amsterdam School style.
The living room can be accessed via its own entrance from the street. It is located at the front of the apartment and offers an unobstructed view of Balboaplein. The living room is the heart of the home. There is ample space for a sitting and dining area, making it the ideal place for relaxation and socializing. The large windows allow plenty of light to enter, further enriching the space. The open kitchen has a timeless black design with trendy white/taupe tiles and is equipped with a granite countertop. The kitchen is equipped with various built-in appliances, including a Quooker tap, oven, dishwasher, 4-burner gas hob, extractor hood, and fridge/freezer. The neat laminate flooring completes the space and matches the pleasant atmosphere of the whole.
Both bedrooms Immediately the living room and located at the quiet rear of the house. As the smallest bedroom is currently furnished as a walk-in closet, there is sufficient space in the master bedroom for a double bed and a workspace. The master bedroom also provides access to the sunny garden. The second (small) bedroom has custom-made closets. The walk-in closet offers plenty of storage space and is considered a luxury by many. If desired, it can easily be removed to create an extra room, which benefits the flexibility of the home. The bathroom has been recently renovated and is equipped with a bathtub with shower function, toilet, sink, and designer radiator.
Both bedrooms French doors bedrooms the lovely sunny garden. A real surprise in this apartment. Partly due to its location at the end of the block, you have an unobstructed view of the greenery. The lovely garden of approximately 33 m² faces south. It is an oasis of calm where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It is also a great place to enjoy a delicious BBQ.

From the very first moment, this home felt like a warm, cozy place. The layout is compact and well-organized, making it particularly suitable for two people. The living room with open kitchen forms the beating heart of the house—a space where people enjoy cooking, dining, and relaxing. The kitchen has been recently renovated and equipped with a Quooker, a refined detail that adds comfort to everyday use.
What makes this home extra special is the tranquility of the garden. As soon as the doors open to the outside, the city fades into the background. In the morning, you can hear birds singing – a surprising contrast to the lively city life outside. The sunny south-facing location makes it an ideal place to relax at the start or end of the day. And for people with a boat: you can moor it a stone's throw away in the Admiralengracht. After a long day of sailing in your sloop, moor the boat and then have a BBQ in the garden with friends – a great day!
