Spatiality

Anyone stepping into this house for the first time and discovering the sea of space behind the facades and under the majestic wooden roof will be in for the surprise of their life. Every room is impressive in its own way. Apart from a number of essential and authentic elements of a 250-year-old farmhouse, a completely new architect-designed home and workplace has been created. The enormous spaciousness of the old barn with its beautiful wooden roof construction has been retained, resulting in considerably more cubic meters per square meter than in any other residential house. The architect has given the entire new front section the same spaciousness. Very large windows create a direct connection with the surrounding Naardermeer nature reserve.

The site is located in the middle of the Naardermeer nature reserve.

The garden has the character of an enclosed courtyard garden.

Surrounding the house is an outdoor garden with an orchard containing 25 classic fruit trees, and the plot merges seamlessly into the nature reserve where Galloway cows, sheep, deer, and small game graze and live. It is an eldorado for a wide variety of birds.
