Glenn keeps clients from unpleasant surprises

‘I sell history and emotion,’ says Glenn, who always dots the i’s and crosses the t’s. He is constantly asking ‘What’s not right about this property?’ He then delves into detective work, bringing the client along for the ride, so they understand the legal ins and outs of things like Homeowners’ Associations.

In black-and-white terms, Glenn sees buying a property as jumping a series of hurdles. ‘I emphasise the negatives in a positive way, offer my advice, and always keep my cool when it comes to buying or selling.’

Glenn studied Integral Safety Management at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and landed at Broersma through an internship. ‘Broersma isn’t your standard office. People come back to us because of the quality of our service and because they feel a personal connection,’ says Glenn, who found a property for the sister of a client, and for their parents, as well, who were looking for a pied-à-terre. ‘Before you know it, you’ve helped the whole family find a property.’

He lives in Bos en Lommer, a neighbourhood in Oud-West. ‘We fell in love with this property because of its historic character, with a living room connected to the adjoining room through original panelled pocket doors: a real 1930s Amsterdam home.’ He appreciates the multicultural diversity in his neighbourhood. ‘I have people living in social housing, expats, and refugees as neighbours, for me it feels like living in the city.’

Podium Mozaïek runs a pavement café and a theatre in a unique building that Glenn visits from time to time, and Café Restaurant Amsterdam in the Staatsliedenbuurt neighbourhood is a favourite, near the Westerpark. ‘The other day, I saw a spotted woodpecker here,’ says Glenn, who loves the green space in the city, and likes to walk his dogs or go to Erasmuspark for a swim. ‘In the summer, I dive right into the Admiralengracht canal at the jetty.’
